A Brave New World John Character Analysis
In a futuristic utopian society in which people are grown as nearly identical embryos in bottles, finding someone who is an outcast from the rest of society is recherché. In Brave New World, the author, Aldous Huxley, makes John an exception. Being the only person in the brave new world born naturally of a mother, John represents a unique human being with an identity and a family relationship unlike any other character. Isolated, disengaged, and rejected, John is truly not apart of the “civilized” World State culture or the “savage” Indian culture.

    Additionally, McQuail cites Karl Marx and Sigmund Freud as inspirations for Huxley’s novel, pointing out juxtapositions of their philosophies within the novel.
