Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, I would appreciate your assistance in convicting this young boy named Ralph, the chief of the island. He along with a few other boys became stranded on an island hoping for rescue when many brutal deaths occurred. Since the children made most decisions within a group, it’s difficult to convict one person. However, Ralph is caught speaking about the night of Simon’s death, “I wasn’t scared, said Ralph slowly, I was--I don’t know what I was” (Golding 156). Ralph may say he wasn’t himself that night, However he still executed an act of involuntary manslaughter.
