still occurrent and have not yet diminished. The story of “A Brother’s Murder” is about a man who has been surrounded by many violent crimes growing up, including the murder of his own brother which happened in his own hometown Chester, Pennsylvania. After going through many violent experiences he decided that he would use his degree as an opportunity to move far away from his old city and live a peaceful life. He was set out to be a product of his own environment and if it had not been for him obtaining his degree who knows what road fate would have decided for him. He had an opportunity to learn something different, and most don’t. If many more kids from his hometown had the same resources as him I doubt that there would be that many disturbances going on, and in fact their hometown may have shown more resemblance to areas such as that on the other side of Pennsylvania.
The inner cities generally refer to a wedge-shaped area within the city limits that separates the downtown area of the suburbs, it is a term used in the United States for referring to a place in a large city that is majority populated by poor minorities.
It seems that each and every inner city is corrupt and filled with considerable amounts of crime. My only explanation for these corruptions are inequalities; people of the inner city usually don't have jobs in their area, and usually can't get the job of preferred choice when they go to the big city because they simply don't fit the criteria. Since there aren't many jobs in the inner city the people of the city may begin to steal, sell drugs, and participate in other illegal activities and such in order to make money, this is why the crimes are usually higher in these areas, it is because they don't have anything and aren't being given an opportunity to be able to get anything and this is a big problem with the inner cities of …show more content…
America.
In order to fix the problems in our communities we will need to first bring upon exposure to the inequalities of the inner city, get members of the community involved in making a change for the better of us all, and continue to execute strategic planning in order to make sure that we take full of advantage of this movement of equilibrium.
In order to gain support for this movement you will need to expose its problems to the public for people to see, this can be done through organizing protests, reaching out to journalists, speaking through public figures, and other methods of the sorts. Exposure is defined as the revelation of an identity or fact, especially one that is concealed or likely to arouse disapproval, and enough of this can allow you to transfer communication effectively to a large amount of people.
In the past black Americans were still at a disadvantage after the Jim Crows laws, “Separate but equal” was what was supposed to be dealt with black Americans, but this wasn't the case at all, and examples have been shown throughout history such as the schooling in Clarendon county in the early 1950s.
The Per student cost of schooling during the 1949–50 school year averaged around $179 for white students but only around $43 for blacks. 2,375 white students attended school in buildings valued at approximately $674,000 while 6,541 black students were crammed into the schools appraised only at $195,000, and while whites received free bus transportation to school, black students were obliged to walk. These were some of the many actions of undermining the law that the whites have done against the blacks in the early 1950s. These undermining actions were countered by the black protests which brought enough exposure to the situation subsequently leaving the supreme court no choice but to have the laws confronted. It was later ruled that the separate facilities were in fact not equal and Upon these findings, the Court reached the decision that in the field of public education, the doctrine of “separate but equal” has no place because they were inherently unequal. This was a great example of how exposure helped overcome a situation of
inequality.
It is a wonderful thing to work with members of your own community in a situation like this not only because you may know them personally, but because you may benefit from them greatly. What we will benefit from working with members of the same community that we are aiming to service are “honest helping hands”, meaning for the most part we won't have to worry about whether they are actually for the cause or not. These are people who are able to relate to the problems theirself, they will have a better understanding of what needs to be done and will be more dedicated to the cause because they will have endured it themselves, this would allow us to ultimately become more pinpoint on what needs to be done. Working with members from outside of your community is also fine but it comes with its own risk; Some members may have good intentions but are so forgetful or caught up in their own interests that they forget or don't bother to do what they promised simply because it isn't as important to them as it would be to a member of the community.I was previously a football player at Duval High School, and a returning varsity Defensive End. Winning a championship was important to me and it certainly was to my other returning varsity teammates, but it simply wasn't for the rest of the team, and they weren't willing to sacrifice in order to achieve a championship and it showed in our gameplay, as well as our playoff loss to Roosevelt High School after a 9-1 season. Certainly, you wouldn't want to associate with a person you can count on. you want to keep employees that are reliable and who that you can count on to come to work on time and to complete assigned tasks. Such a person like that from the community is trusted to do as promised.
We will need to take advantage of every opportunity, and plan strategically in order to become more efficient. This movement can be considered a remodeling process and while undergoing a process of this scale, we will face many adversities; we will face a large amount of criticism, we will make mistakes, and misunderstandings are bound to happen. In order to lessen these adversities we must be able to consistently stick the game plan because one slip up or one missed opportunity can go a long way. It's sort of like momentum. The longer we stay focused the more positive momentum we gain the more mistakes we make the more negative momentum we gain.
If we can bring exposure to the problems of the inner city, get members of the community involved and execute strategic planning, then we should be able to overcome these inequalities with due time especially since we are to be attacking them with systematic measures.
