A Career As A Counselor

In the future, I would very much be interested in working as a counselor with a few populations. One of my interests is working with children – I have thought about working with children since I decided to be a counselor in high school. But more specifically, I am interested in working with immigrant children and families. As a child of Mexican immigrant parents, I am interested in the mental health of and advocacy for these underrepresented minorities. Eventually, my goal is to open a practice in my hometown of Laredo, Texas that will be directed to the large amount of immigrant families residing there, with a special dedication and focus to the awareness and promotion of mental health. This is an area that needs to be filled and attended
