A Career As An Adoption Agent

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to help people everyday of your life? Would you want to help people with their problems and get them out of it? Well that’s exactly what a social worker does. Have you ever thought about giving a deserving family a child that they couldn’t get themselves or help a child met a deserving family?Well thats what a adoption agent does and guess what they do almost the same thing. They both are helping people and have jobs that are demanding and stressful. There are many different types of social work and one of them is an Adoption Agent. To understand what an adoption agent has to do you have to know a few things: that Louise Waterman Wise founded the first adoption agency, you have four important classes
to take in college, you have to be willing to help families and children, and how this will be good for me and possibly you in the future if you would like to adopt.
One of the first things you should know about being an adoption agent is the past and how this career came to be.
“In 1910-1930 there was a group of women that were known as social workers.” said Adoption History: First Specialized Adoption Agencies They were the first people to make an adoption agency in the United States. The women that had the great idea of an adoption agency was Louise Waterman Wise. The name of the first adoption agency was Free Synagogue Child Adoption Committee but was later changed to Louise Wise Services in honor of the founder Louise Wise Services. What the agency did was parents that didn’t want their kid or couldn’t take care of it gave their children to these women and the women would give the children to people that deserved them. Over the years the the had more and more agency open up. This career was made popular because so many families were able to get children even if they couldn’t conceive or wanted to adopt. There are many different classes you will have to take to become an adoption agent.
In high school there are a few classes in high school that you should take in high school, like, Human Services and you can also doing services in your family and community. If you plan on getting a job in social work then you better go to college. What you need to get in college is a Bachelor’s in social work degree. If you for sure want to become a social worker then you will also have to major in psychology and sociology. Even with those classes you will only get a lower ranked job if you want one that is higher you will have to get a higher degree in college and in Iowa you have to be licensed in 2 different classes: Adoption Investigator and Social Worker. Some things that you have to be willing to do is have patience with others and be willing to help people. This career will take an emotional toll on you. You will have to be stable in you life with you family, friends, and children. Other things that has happened is people get attached to the children they are helping and want to adopt the child. It is not uncommon for adoption agents to adopt children they are
helping.
Some things that you will have to do is met with families wanting to let their child be adopted and families that want to adopt a child. Things you will have to do if you go into social work are always different task such as plan social event. Different events you can plan are different anonymous groups like OA, AA, and many more. Theses are just a few events that are to help others get through a tough time with different addictions or problems they might be having. If you are worried about hours you don’t have to worry they are not that bad on a normal day you would get off around 5 so you will not have to worry about not being able to see your kids. There are times though when you will have to leave at random moments to help a family after child birth. You are also getting a pretty good paycheck and in North Carolina, where I would like to live, you get an hourly salary of $21.33 hr. or $44,360 yearly. (I Have A Plan Iowa)
Some of the reason I believe I would be a good adoption agent is because I love children and helping deserving families get what they have wanted for a while. Different values you will have to acquire is being social and enterprising. For me, I am social and willing to do whatever it takes to help others and be there for them. I love to be with people and talk. Talking is my specialty. I am willing to be there for others even if it means I have to get up very early to help others. Some people wouldn’t be able to take the weird hours but for me that normal. You would have to be able to do regular hours and then funky ones too. SOme things you will also have to do is be happy with what you have because every time you see a new id you can’t just want to take him or her home. Has your passion in life been to help others and be there for people? Well if so then maybe an Adoption agent is the job for you. So many worthy families deserve a child but have so much trouble getting a child and one way they true is to an adoption agent so you have to be willing to help them. I feel like I could be one of those people that helps those families and children from around the world.There are so many jobs out there, what will you become will an adoption agent be your path?
