Veterinarians work with a wide variety of animals and, unlike a human doctor, they have to learn the treatments and care for many species. This requires a minimum of eight years of post-high school education. Because of this, it is a high paying, exciting, challenging job where every day I would get to work on an animal that is different from the one the day previous. My fear as a teenager has been that I will get an office job that would be more boring than I could stand. I am a hands-on worker, not someone who can sit for long periods of time. Because of the diversity of this career I don’t have to worry about getting bored.

They help community members by giving their animals the vaccines they need to keep them healthy and happy. Many veterinarians are also involved with shelters and rescue efforts. In the home I lived in a few years previous there were two kittens dropped off in very bad shape. My brother and I tried to help them back into good health.
