P.9 A couple of chickens, high up in the roof, heard the ruckus below, and abandoned their roost.
“Is there room for us here where the new baby rests?
Perhaps for a gift we can build him a nest.”
Then out of the corners came little things creeping across the place where the baby lay sleeping.
“Is there room of us little folk, here at the manger?
We want to come closer to welcome the stranger.”

P.10 And there in the stable there seemed to be room for a donkey, a goat, and a cow that went, “Moo” some shepherds and lambs (and an angel or two), three kings with their camels, six mice and two chooks, three spiders, two rats, who came for a look, and Joseph and Mary and Jesus.
