In Porphyria’s Lover, the man that was obsessed with her, found out a way that he could have her forever. He was jealous that he couldn’t have more time with her, and wanted that to change, so he killed her. He did it in a way where she felt no pain, he would say. He took her hair, and took it three times around her neck, and there she lay with her droopy head and a smile upon her face. In My Last Duchess, the Duke had to have control. He came to the conclusion that murder was the solution. An assassin had been hired by the Duke, to kill the Duchess. Murder was the cause.
All in all, both My Last Duchess and Porphyria’s Lover, had the resemblance of love, one way or another. Both men could have been insane, but they did want possession of their wives and wanted to be with them forever. Love is stronger after death it is said. “Love is when the other person's happiness is more important than your own.” (Brown) Both men did care for their other half at one point, it was just how one showed it. Love is random and can be shown many ways, of course.
Cleary, between My Last Duchess and Porphyria’s Lover, there was some differences and similarities over and all.
