'A Low Art' By Margaret Atwood

What if just like Penelope in the story, people will stab you in the back, people will spread misleading and untrue rumors about you, what if you would know everything? Are you ready to be slapped by the truth? Are you ready to see yourself from their perspective? How Penelope was being blind eye and mouth shut to achieve the happy ending that she wanted. With having the knowledge of knowing everything, we could possibly know if people were being real with us or not. And in that case I somehow feel pity for Penelope for suffering. In the opening section of Penelope’s narration, we immediately draw to the fact that Penelope is already dead, it is told from Penelope’s point of view after her death. The author decided that it was time for Penelope to finally speak for herself. She had only realized many painful things when she was already dead, highlighting the setting in the afterlife all speaking from Hades, where they now reside. It all begins with Penelope arriving in the under world, all of them arrives carrying a “sacks full of words”, “that sack full of gossips” you’ve said or have been said about you behind your back. There are small ones, others are large; and hers is of a reasonable size. And her sack was full of words in it that mostly concern about her famous and notable husband, and how he made her fool. She is aware on how tricky and liar Odyssey can be but she can’t believe that he will try his tricks on
