A Near Death Experience
A near death experience, or NDE, can mean many different things not only mentally, but physically as well. An experience can occur when the heart stops and somehow comes back to life whether it be naturally or by doctors, or it can happen while a person is in a type of danger that is going to result in death no matter what. In addition, a person can also have a near death experience without the threat of impending physical death (Atman). Many factors come into having an experience as serious as this, so people who have had a NDE are greatly affected.

This includes Christians, religious people that aren’t Christians, experiencers having co-called “new age” aspects, people who considered themselves atheist before experience and those who are non religious. Williams interviewed a group of fifty individuals that reported having a near death experience (Williams). Of the fifty individuals, 56% saw some sort of God, 42% experienced a light at the end of a tunnel, 46% were told by some God that they weren’t supposed to die yet, and 62% had their life flash before their eyes. After going through a near death experience, the person doesn’t have the fear of death, they’re more spiritual and less religious, more generous, their inner child tends to shine, and they end up being less competitive. Researchers say that life seems very different after having a near death experience because they now have a life to compare to the one they had before prior to the phenomenon. Because of these changes, family issues tend to surface. Unresolved issues come back into play and it’s typical for an experiencer to have a change of heart toward their spouse or close family member (Williams).
