A Pep Talk From Kid President To You Analysis
The first video I chose to watch was one I have seen before, A Pep Talk from Kid President to You. This video gets me inspired every time I watch it. This little boy uses powerful words and phrases in his video, and honestly he speaks the truth, and that is how I relate to him. He speaks from what he knows, and others feel his age. He wants teachers to engage them into learning, or as he puts it “stop being boring”. This video is a great video to use when you need a little bit on inspiration! The next video I chose to watch was Motivating Kids to Read. This video was very clear, and gave several great points. His first point was lead by example. This point was eye opening as most people forget that children learn from us and use our actions as an example. I also liked the point he made about encouraging children to read after watching the movie. I feel this is a very solid foundation to get children familiar with the plot, and that will encourage them to keep flipping the pages to that book. …show more content…
This video was very cute, and having a child talking during the video instead of an adult I felt gave the video more character. I love the sound of enthusiasm coming from the child, and I feel other students can easily get engaged into reading after watching their other students make videos like this. The last video I chose to watch was one of the most insightful videos as it talks about personal experiences about Tracy Wymer. He talks about a program called Book It where he got gold stars, and once he got enough, he was given a certificate to go to Pizza Hut. Tracy Wymer talks about how this program helped him start reading because he really enjoyed eating free pizza. Something so simple got him reading, and he kept

In the video Montana Stories: Kevin Red Star Kevin talks about the symbols in art. His style represents the Crow Indians in his art. This video would be used in my class to talk about art and how different cultures can be represented in art. Art resembles what the artists wants and students should be aware of who their artwork can resemble culture. While looking through the resources I found a lesson plan including videos for the Jingle Dancer. This resource included videos about doing a close reading and doing math problem solving. This resource would cover multiple subjects and be an excellent resource. I like the Jingle Math Problem because it was a math story problem and the student were solving the Jingle Dancer question. The resource…

After watching the videos and reading the synopsis of "The Adventures of Jasper Woodbury" I am extremely excited about this curriculum and curriculum that is similar to this. This type of instruction allows for endless possibilities to enhance and engage student learning. This type of video-based instruction represents the new age of technology. It allows teachers to break away from the traditional chalkboard or smartboard lessons. I feel as though it is very important for schools to incorporate as much differentiated instruction as possible. Each student has a unique learning style and ways in which he or she learns best. Differentiated instruction such as these video-based lessons help to meet the educational needs of several students who…

The artifact that demonstrates the type of reading program I want in my future classroom is the book “Don’t Laugh At Me” by Steve Seskin, Allen Shamblin and Glin Dibley, and the song that goes with it. This book is a great resource to create an inclusive learning environment in the classroom which is essential for any program to be successful.…

Everyone loves the new kid in town. He’s unexpected, mysterious, and charming. In Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, Charles Bingley and his entourage are the “new kids in town.” These unknown, wealthy strangers are the gossip around Longbourn. Eagles is a rock band that formed in the 1970s that released a song called “New Kid in Town” in 1976. Don Henley, the band’s drummer, explains, “We were basically saying, ‘Look, we know we’re red hot right now but we also know that somebody’s going to come along and replace us — both in music and in love.’” In comparison with Jane and Mr. Bingley’s relationship, the band is symbolic of Mr. Bingley. “New Kid in Town” can be used to symbolize many aspects of Mr. Charles Bingley and Miss Jane Bennet’s…

I found the “My Language” video very fascinating. I never really thought there was a possibility of mentally or psychologically disabled people communicating with the outside world because they communicated differently. I also assumed they couldn’t, simply was not able. It put a new perspective on how I think that they think. This shows you never really know what someone is thinking just by how they are acting or “showing themselves”.…

I like this week readings and videos because it has a lot of different subjects and ideas instead of one. I'm a visual learner so I enjoy watching video a lot. The article "It's not about the technology ...or is it?" by George Couros is very interesting because it makes the reader think about if technology is helping the ways students learn or not. Couros believes that technology is improving peoples life and creating opportunities for everyone. I agree with Couros because technologies make teaching complicated subjects easier than without it. He states that " A video that I have shown to show how technology is more than a tool and can be “transformational”, is this video of this young boy getting his first hearing aid. You can literally see…

Entertainment can be a great educator. Television is a notorious enjoyment for the young. Whilst enjoying programs from channels like Nick Jr. and Disney Junior, toddlers can amass a pool of knowledge before they begin formal schooling. My brother is a beneficiary of those programs. Thank to “Little Einsteins”, he is exposed to classical music, renowned artists and the scenery of other countries. “Team Umizoomi”, fortified his math skills by introducing him to counting, addition and subtraction, and patterns. In addition, the storylines of an episode constantly include problem solving. Often minor yet essential life lessons, like the wrongs of lying, are present, adding to the value of the TV programs.…
