Reading and writing also encourages us to think. We introduce to the concept of reading at a very early age. It remains with us in different forms throughout our life. It is very important to instill the habit of reading right from childhood. You can put in children, the habit of reading bedtime stories. Reading during the early years helps the child in improving his/her language skills. When children learn to recognize written words, it enables them to mock the words and then is able to write. Avid readers and writers are also better at processing information faster than those who read less. The research presented by the Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology proves that poor readers have poorer short-memory functions. In the event that heavy-handed disproportionate actions and excessive use of force are used in the quelling of riots, there will be a very different outcome. The second order effects remain the same, in that the rioters will cease their lawless activities (temporarily). However, perceived and actual brutality against rioters and protesters will turn public sentiment against law enforcement and the members of the military and will increase membership in protester groups. Being that these protests stem primarily from perceived injustices committed by agents of the government, any perceived injustices committed as a response to such protests will only reinforce the ideologies that fuel the protests. Furthermore, the more unbalanced and fringe advocates of these groups may be…

Learning to read in your childhood is very beneficial. By being able to read at an early age made it easier for me to learn the more difficult words faster. Every night before I went to bed my mom would sit and read me a bedtime story. Bedtime stories were my first but not last encounter with reading. My mom often would read, The Bid Bad Wolf and Doctor Seus. These books I read when I was little I still remember today.…

Reading heightens a child’s ability to comprehend new things. The more a child reads, the more advanced the child’s capability of fully understanding what he or she is reading becomes. In addition to gaining the ability to better comprehend what he or she reads, reading --whether it be fiction or nonfiction-- exposes and explains new ideas to kids. This exposure to new ideas is intrinsic to helping a child understand the world around him or her. Children can learn more morals from reading than by any other means.…

When I was younger I didn’t really know what I should do which almost caused me to think that every day of my life I was having anxiety because I had no direction. I started to read almost every single day which brought out a side of myself which wasn’t afraid to settle down and realize that there’s more to life then to always be doing something. Reading also brought the world to my attention and different career paths I could go in life whether I wanted to be like Santiago and live my life at sea, or if after reading Still Alice I would want to be a surgeon trying to cure diseases like Alzheimer’s. Every time that a new book was in my hands I would only imagine the path it would take me throughout my life. Reading brings out the true you and that’s something that no one can take…

To help children develop a love of reading start by having books all around. In the words of Dr. Seuss, “The more that your read, the more things you will know. The more you learn the more places you will go.” (Dr. Seuss). An early start with teaching the concept of page turning, observing pictures, and sequencing will feed little ones curiosity. You can further spark their imagination and creative thinking skills by sharing a picture book without words. Also, reading at bed time will also help small children learn that reading is a relaxing and comforting activity. As children get older we need to make sure we don’t always make reading feel as if it is a task, but rather enjoyable. The U.S. Department of Education found that, generally the more children read for fun the higher their reading scores are in school (U.S. Department of Education, 2007).…

She will also read not only because it is required, but because she has a passion for reading. There have been countless days we spent in the house reading the entire day. Before my daughter began Pre-Kindergarten, I would schedule times to read with her whether after lunch or before bed. As she moved up in her grade levels, we would alternate reading, she would read one page and I would read the next while asking each question such as, “How do you feel about what is happening?” “How do you think the character feels? and “What would you do if you were in this situation?” Parents are a child’s first teacher and I believe my grandmother and mother opened a new world for me by taking me to the library and reading to me. This is what I plan to accomplish with my…
