(Loos 107,108).
The title of the play has a strong significant, whereas
it comes from the poem Harlem “ what happens to a dream deferred Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun Or fester like a sore and then run? “ ( Langston Hughes).
Langston Hughes makes a strong image of what happens when a dream is postponed. It simply dries or rots like a Raisin, that will lead to sadness and frustration. This reflected on the Black community. The same in Lorraine Hansberry’s play A Raisin in the sun, generally, Black people had dreams, they live their live dream of achieving their dreams and work hard for it. Maybe there is a connection between the title of the play and the subject of the play. The Black people work for the White Man and they absorb the best of them, like what the sun does with Raisin, when it left for awhile in the sun, as a result it dries and dies. This is applies for the Negro in America.
