A Rose: A Narrative Fiction
“ George!, George!” I could hear my own breathing. It was sharp and quick almost as if someone had just tried to strangle me. I felt a pair of hands on the back of my neck like how I’d done that day. My heart seemed like it was seconds away from bursting. “George! George!” I could hear a voice getting louder as it came closer and closer. Splash! I frantically got up as the cold water hit me. “ George, you were havin’ those dreams again,” Charlie explained as he held an empty glass.
I could feel the icy water running slowly down my face. The top of my shirt was completely soaked.

Rose looked up and smiled her way over. I had a feeling that smile was going to disappear in a little while. “ I had been meaning to tell you something about myself,” I said as I slightly paused looking towards her. She seemed to have caught on that it was a serious matter and nodded her head indicating she was listening.
“ Remember how I told ya I came from a ranch. Well that’s not the entire story. I fled from the ranch,” I told her as she looked confused. I continued on telling Rose the entire story. From meeting Lennie, the incident in Salinas, working at the ranch, Curley’s wife’s death and finally Lennie’s death.
“ I killed him Rose, “ I said as I reached out for Rose’s hand. Rose snatched her hand away from me as she covered her mouth and ran out of the store. I can't believe it. I had finally told her. It broke my heart to see Rose walk away from me. The next morning at work I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around to see Rose. “ George, I understand what happened and why it happened. I couldn't think straight. All I thought about was the murder. It’s not your fault George. You did what you thought was right for you and Lennie. Sometimes you gotta overcome the wrong to do the right thing and that’s exactly what you did,” Rose said

Rose’s Story is a book about the struggles one woman faced through most of her adult life, all while trying to remember her past and also while trying to raise a family of her own. The story however, starts off with Rose painting what her childhood was like: parents putting her into the system, extended stay at Chatwood (a mental hospital for children to be specific) and what life was like for her overall growing up as a kid.…

Social science studies are very common and therefore require different methods be used to collect data. Max Travers and Michelle Newton-Francis both authored articles analyzing how to research and compare criminal justice. Travers article titled, “Understanding Comparison in Criminal Justice Research”, uses the common method of the positivist model. The positivist model uses statistics which help to provide adequate evidence for the police and criminal lawyers. Travers states that statistics should be used to avoid the use of common knowledge. Common knowledge comes from common sense which varies between people and societies, therefore the research collected would may not be accurate.…
