A Successful High School Career
I am James Maitland. I have had a very successful high school career here at Summit academy. Now that my time is coming to an end, I would like to pass on information to future senors.
I struggled in Chemistry my junior year. The chemistry teacher was a cool guy, but I struggle in the class due to a lack of communication. The notes had been usually the class period when we had them. I did not ask enough questions during notes, work time, and before or after school. I watched videos half way through the year to study and saw my grades improve. I can recall how when I had a question one time the chemistry teacher worked with me to find what I was doing wrong. The teachers are here to help you so keep up the communication and senior year should be a breeze.

Using good communication skills will allow you to talk to your teachers easier. The easier it is to talk with your teachers the more help you can ask for help. Coummincation

I struggled in many classes in high school. The teachers I struggled to learn from being the ones I would talk to the least. Having been around this years juniors class for so long and also knowing them for many years, I could also predict how well they will do based improved coumminication.
The junior class should coumminicate better because the more they are able to discuss the better they will be at topics in every area. Students who often struggle with certain topics will see improved grades. I have also observed that the honors junior class has strong coumminication skills. They are very nosiey at times and very annoying. However, daily I see questions being ask with each other and conversations taking place. On the other hand one important pieace of coummincation is also listening. The junior class sometimes does struggle with this. All in all it is up to the indidual to listen and keep up strong

There is a common myth that high school is an established educational institute set out to deprive you of a social life and your hair before the age of 18 due to its curriculum and demanding courses .This is in fact is one of the biggest disclaimers you'll hear surrounding any high school. In reality, the academic aspect of high school is quite frankly the easiest obstacle to overcome. Although seemingly hard, for the majority of my academic classes this year I've easily adapted and have progressed quite smoothly within each individual course. To tell the truth the hardest course to overcome was AP Chemistry. While the subject itself captivated much of the basic knowledge taught in regular chemistry, the real difficulty was applying those…

An obstacle I have encountered was my AP Calculus class. At the beginning of the course it was very difficult as my prior mathematics teacher had informed me. Besides having a big transition in the level of math, there was more to the class. I had failed the first test and was ready to drop the class. However, I was not ready to give up so I decided to keep the class and work harder. I dealt this this problem by taking more time out of my day to go over the material being learned. This meant I had to put in more time along with some of my peers that helped organize a small study group. This was an important factor in order to be successful in the class because the information being learned was difficult.…

Looking back to middle school I remember the fear I had for someday having to go to high school. My teachers always told me how different and harder it would be when I went. My older sister was in 9th grade at the time and I wanted ti be with her when I went. But the high school she was at was different from the one all my friends were going. I always had a hard time making decisions and now I had to choose between going to a school with my friends or going to a school that would help me prepare for the future. So I decided I would just apply to my sisters school to see if I got accepted, going into the interview I wasn't really scared because it didn't matter to me, I just thought whatever happens, happens. Surprisingly I got accepted and…

At this point I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life after college and I didn’t even know what college I wanted to go to. I did not like the feeling of not knowing what I wanted to do as a career. It would eat at me, so I decided to just hide it away deep down until it would find its way out eventually with the right answer a year and a half later. My classes were consisting of required courses that I had no care for. Back when I was a sophomore, we were required to take chemistry in order to complete high school. My chemistry teacher was the worst. He did not care about my assignments enough to actually take his time and read through them and give me an accurate score on my assignments and tests. No matter how hard or little I tried, he would always give me a score of a D or C, Teachers like him are what cause the students to have this thought of, “No matter how hard I try, I will never be able to better myself, I am worthless in their eyes.”. That’s the message I received when I was handed a sixty percent for my semester grade in that class. That teacher didn’t care about me, he didn’t want to waste his precious time on me. Teachers like him are like the diseases in the education…

Don't get me wrong I actually really like chemistry because it's a branch from science, but like math there is just so much to cover. It's a lot to take in and can be quite confusing. Like math, I end up looking for help online but not as often. However, I especially try to learn the materials as best as I can because it is essential to becoming a pharmacist, which is my dream career. Unlike math, our grade isn't just determined by what we get on the tests, but also on some experiments. Even so, tests still make up most of our grade. To add, it's not really hands on. I was expecting a lot more experiments to understand more of how chemicals interact with each other. I have noticed that I learn things a bit faster if it's more hands on. Unfortunately, most of the material is on paper and it gets confusing at times. Additionally, the teacher always seems to throw a complex question on the tests that always throws me off. I find to do better on the tests when I do all of my homework. This also allows me to redo a test that I may not have gotten a good…

The class background is quite good in terms of academic level. They are in the science and math program and achieve well above average results year on year. They also as a group they had won many math and science awards either as inter school competitions or around Thailand. They totaled forty six in number but because of their behavior in the classroom it never felt like a big class. As a result I was excited about the prospect of teaching them as they had a reputation of being hard working and intelligent. As stated below, I knew quite a few of the students and often had conversations outside of the classroom about various topics such as football and general chit chat. I had taught this class before in M4 and although they numbered around 30 at that time I thought this would be a fun class to teach and even with a change of subject I thought…
