The woodsman and his wife were very hard -working and kind people. In their routine, Woodsman woke up very early in the morning and went to the forest to collect wood. His wife milked the cows, fed the hens and made bread. She didn’t stop working until her husband returned home. The woodsman came back home in the evening with the wood he put his carriage. She ate plenty of food, but she couldn’t grow. She was very small but clever. She was curious about the life, she asked everything and learnt easily. She was a bit naughty. She did very naughty things. One day she got into the milk bowl, her father saw her at the last moment before he drank his milk. Another day, she got into the bread and her mom saw her at the last moment before she cut the bread.
Finally, “It can’t be like this Thumbelina! You are very important and special for us! We really care about you! The wind can take you away or somebody can step on you. We are worried about you. We are afraid of something happening to you. Please be careful! Do not do anything before thinking. Do not upset us and always listen to our advice. Never leave here before telling us and don’t move out of your walnut shell!” her parents said.
Thumbelina listens to them carefully in her walnut shell. “Dear Mommy! Dear Daddy! I know you love me a lot. Believe me; I love you very much, too. I promise I never leave my walnut shell. I never move from here! Don’t worry!” she promised them.

Children are playing in the garden. They are having fun, but we get bored here. Let’s play with them.” she said to wild pansy.
“But I can’t move! I’m tightly tied to the soil with my roots; I must stay in my pot” the wild pansy said sadly.
“But I don’t have roots. I can go anywhere I want to.” laughed Thumbelina. “But isn’t it dangerous for you?” asked the wild pansy.
Thumbelina replied, “No, how can it be dangerous? I want to go near the children and meet them. Okay, Good-bye. I promise to tell you everything when I come back.”
Then Thumbelina walked out of the window. It was a nice, warm day. She looked down through the window frame. She felt dizzy because it was too high for her. She thought, “How can I go down?” Then she suddenly saw the ivy with pink flowers. “It’s a good ladder for me!” she shouted.
She held the thin branches of the ivy carefully and at last, she could get on the ground. She ran towards the children and “Hello!” she said.
Children stopped playing and looked around to understand what was happening? They couldn’t understand who was speaking.
“Can I play with you?” Thumbelina asked smiling.
The children were surprised. “This must be a fairy!” one of them shouted.
“And it is a talking fairy!” said another
