To start, we’ll look over both of the men in the story. They both stood out from the rest of the cast, because while the cast for each of their stories is often ordinary and bland, the men have one defining feature about them that makes them intriguing compared to all the rest of them. They’re both the focuses of the story due to this fact, and their qualities expand within both stories. When the story starts and ends, the men both are at the shore of the ocean. The handsome man starts the story out dead as a doornail, and stays dead throughout the story. In contrast, the old man is alive throughout the story and lives, but throughout the story, he’s sick and is on the verge of death, as expressed from his tattered wings and his gloomy attitude towards everyone. In the end, the handsome man’s dead body is cast out to sea to maybe be seen again by the people, and the old man leaves of his own will, his wings having gotten better and he chooses to fly far away from where he landed, far away from the mistreatment of others, and into the horizon of the
