A Worn Path by Eudora Welty illustrates a woman making a journey through the forest where she is in tuned with nature, but slowly becomes confined when she arrives at the city. A Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe shows how characters go back and forth from feeling free or trapped. In both “A Worn Path” and “The Cask of Amontillado” the authors describes the emotions of the characters by using the setting, “A Worn Path” the setting of the story is the actual path she was taking through the forest, which was full of obstacles and limitations.
