AACN Self Assessment Essentials
According to Hebda and Czar, “Healthcare professionals need to know more today to perform their daily jobs than at any previous point in history. Healthcare delivery systems are knowledge-intensive settings with nurses as the largest group of knowledge workers within those systems” (Hebda & Czar 2013). I scored 40 on the AACN Self-Assessment Essentials. In my opinion, I’m very good with information system but I feel that I need to do better. When it comes to technology, there is always something to learn every day. After I completed this self-assessment, I realized that on the area that I need to work the most is on the participation in evaluating information systems in practice settings through policy and procedure development. I have never
participated in an Information System committee at my workplace. I know there is one and that they get together every month. I’m planning to join the committee because I know I will benefit from it.
