ADHD Diagnosis

I believe that ADHD is a real mental disorder with debilitating effects on some human beings. I do not believe that the disorder is as widespread as it is made out to be in today's society. In my experience, parents will try to explain a child's poor academic performance with anything that does not put the blame on themselves or the child. Instead, they will choose to seek out an environmental influence or treatable disease or disorder. When they can't find any causes in the child's environment, the ADHD diagnosis provides an alternative cause that is treatable with modern medicine and a tutor.
