Thus, the APA Code of Ethics (20150) provides ethical guidance applicable for not only consulting psychology but also coaching. Two of APA code of ethics that align the practice of consulting and coaching include (1) Conflicts Between Ethics and (2) Organizational Demand and Assessments by Unqualified Persons.

APA Code of Ethics 9.07 addresses Assessments by Unqualified Persons by stating how coaches should reframe from using or promoting assessments for which they personally have not been trained or any other person(s) charged with using the assessment does not have proper training. The APA (2010) states, “psychologists do not promote the use of psychological assessment techniques by unqualified persons, except when such use is conducted for training purposes with appropriate supervision” … (p.
