AT & T Executive Summary
AT&T cited the U.S. Consumer Prices Index to show that wireless prices have declined 50% since 1999. In that time, Bell Atlantic and GTE formed Verizon, SBC and Bell South formed Cingular, Sprint bought Nextel , AT&T bought Cingular, and Verizon bought Alltel.
It's true that the cost of voice services has fallen over the past decade, and even in the past year: Sprint and T-Mobile both offered attractive rates, so Verizon and AT&T slashed the prices of their unlimited calling plans by $30 in early 2010.
But what that doesn't show is how much people are actually spending on their cell phone bills. For AT&T customers under contract, spending has gone up over the past four years. AT&T's average revenue per user for postpaid customers has increased

However, the “per month” cost that many carriers quote can be misleading. As you compare the cost of a cell vs. a landline, consider these factors:…

Profits from low-cost plans are barely keeping them afloat in an industry where evolving technology is vital for sustainability. Smart-phones continue to be the current and future cash crop of the cell phone industry. The best companies like AT&T, and Verizon offer reliable 4G network technologies, along with multimedia phones, that allow expeditious travel of data. Conversely, T-Mobile and Metro PCS are still operating on older network protocols and selling a lineup of smart-phones that are very lackluster when compared to the competitions iPhone, and Android.…

AT&T once a regulated monopoly, controlled the market and was able to charge regulated high prices for its long distance service. With the increased use of satellite, AT&T 's cost structure has was forced to change. It lifted the cost constraint for consumers due to the competition it created with an increase in satellite usage. The progress and innovation in telecommunications technologies have been rapid since the introduction of satellite and is expected to continue. The merger of Bell Atlantic and GTE was valued at more than $52 billion. The purpose of the merger was to build a dynamic company that is capable of competing in the industry’s top-tier level. It took two years for the merger to close. In the meantime, Bell Atlantic and Vodafone Air Touch, now Vodafone Group, announced their agreement to create a new wireless business. The new “Verizon” brand was launched on April 3, 2000, after a six month wait for regulatory approval, and began operating as Verizon Wireless on April 4th. GTE’s wireless operations joined Verizon Wireless thereby creating the nation’s largest wireless company. “Verizon then became the majority owner (55 percent) of Verizon Wireless, with management control of the joint venture” (Varettoni, 2013, p. 3).…

The Medical Center is starting a new initiative dedicated to the prevention of pressure ulcers in acute care facilities. Hospital-acquired pressure ulcers (HAPUs) are a national concern due to increased morbidity, climbing treatment cost, and decreased reimbursements. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) considers pressure ulcers to be preventable. Hospitals are already facing low reimbursements and penalties from Medicare related to the ulcer specific care of patients who acquire pressure ulcers during their inpatient stay. Pressure ulcer prevention in acute care hospitals is surely not new, but it is a highly sensitive issue focused by several recent papers and reports (Zaratkiewicz, S, etal, 2010). The frequency of occurrence and rising cost of treating pressure ulcers is prompting health care industry to identify and implement interventions in order to prevent HAPUs. In the past, nursing units were responsible for the care and prevention of pressure ulcer care but the current studies have proved that pressure prevention and management needs multidisciplinary approach (AHRQ,…

The key players in the wireless industry are Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile. With these four companies controlling 90% of the market, there are no other ‘key players’ in the industry. U.S. Cellular is not quite a ‘key player’, however they do hold approximately 2.4% of the customer nationwide and must be in the overall picture. In addition, the data suggests that the pool of potential people that would get a cell phone is almost entirely saturated so it does not look as if there is any room for additional competition.…
