AV Fustula Lab Report
commonly, fistulas can also be created in the lower extremities, creation process however differs. AV fistula placement is done in groin only when options in the arm and hands are either not available or are exhausted due to failure of fistulas previously created in the arms. A fistula takes many weeks to mature, on average perhaps 4–6 weeks.
During dialysis treatment, two needles are inserted into venous column of the fistula, one draws blood to the dialysis machine and the other one to return it to venous circulation. While inserting the needles orientation of the normal flow is taken into account. The "arterial" needle draws blood from the "upstream" location while the "venous" needle returns blood "downstream". If this arrangement is switched

The overall goal of experiment four was to determine the identity of unknown cations presented to the student. But in order to know the identity of these unknowns, in part 1, Ag+, Pb+, and Hg22+ were presented to the student in aqueous solutions and then precipitated through experimentation. In part 2, the same procedure was enacted to determine which substances precipitated through qualitative analysis. Solubility rules were also a major theme as solubility is important in determining whether a reaction will produce a precipitate.…

The primary function of the heart is to transport blood throughout the body, which delivers oxygen, nutrients and chemicals to the cells of the body to ensure their survival and proper function and to remove the cellular wastes. For the body to achieve this, it must maintain a certain blood pressure within the body to overcome gravity and orthostatic changes. If the body did not keep a certain pressure, distal cells and organs would not be able to receive a constant blood supply and cause a homeostatic imbalance. This experiment will show the possible changes in blood pressure due to gravity and orthostatic changes, but first, what is blood pressure and why is it important?…

INTRODUCTION There are many reasons for knowing the identity of microorganisms. The reasons range from the knowing the causative agent of a disease to knowing the correct microorganism in order to make antibiotics. This study was done by applying the following methods; OF Glucose, Indole Production, and Malonate Utilization test for the identification of an unknown bacterium. The methods will assist in determining the unknown bacterium found in a 55 year old male that was passing blood and mucous in his stool. The patient had no pain but mild discomfort during bowel movements. The doctor noted inflammation of the lining of the rectum. The doctor removed a tissue sample for examination and referred the patient to a gastroenterologist for a barium xray and colonoscopy. While utilizing the methods stated above, the bacterium found was a facultative anaerobe due to the Gram Negative Rods, fermentation, and the production of indole. The specific Gram Negative Enteric Bacilli was Shigella dysenteriae. There are many reasons for knowing how to control bacterial growth as well as such as antimicrobial drugs, which assist the body’s defenses against pathogens. Microorganisms are capable of causing infection or spoilage. Controlling bacterial growth is important in poultry farm businesses that use equipment to decontaminate processing plant fluids before disposal. During quality control and safety evaluations, bacteria growth that needs to be controlled can be found. While controlling bacterial growth, clusters of Gram Positive Cocci were found. It was found some ways to control bacterial growth were disinfection, sterilization, antisepsis, sanitization, moist and dry heat, filtration, and radiation; just to name a few. The specific method used for control depends on various circumstances.…
