Companies use a statement of cash flows because it shows where cash came from and how it was used. The other main financial reports only provide a limited insight into the cash transactions of the company. While the other main reports utilize the accrual accounting basis, the statement of cash flows changes the accrual basis using the direct or indirect method. The indirect method is primarily used, however both are acceptable under generally accepted accounting principles. The statement of cash flows is divided into three sections and shown in the report in the following order. Operating activities is reported first, followed by investing activities, and finally financing activities. Operating activities deals with each transaction that involves both revenues and expenses. This category is considered important because operating activities are the best predictor of a company’s ability to generate future cash. This obviously is important information for investors as well as creditors when evaluating a company’s ability to grow and move forward. Investors can make educated guesses regarding the future cash flows based on the statement of cash flows better than viewing the other financial reports that utilize the accrual accounting basis. Investing activities include the transactions to purchase, sell, or dispose of company property. Loans and debt collection are also included in the investing activities with company plant and equipment. Investors can view the statement of cash flows to see if the company has sufficient cash on hand to pay stockholder dividends and meet future demands. Finally, financing activities includes receiving cash from stockholders, buying back company stock, and paying dividends.…

Cyrano de Bergerac was indeed a hero because has had to overcome an obstacle, gone to battle when all odds were against him, and he is also a tragic hero. Cyrano de Bergerac was a play written by Edmond Rostand in 1897. Cyrano de Bergerac was definitely an exceptional hero. He acted on his own set of morals. 1. William Faulkner brings this game to life to many people that have only seen it on television by using metaphors which relate it to other ideas that people may be more likely to have knowledge about which could help them envision it and feel as if the reader is actually there. An example of how he uses metaphors is how he compares the motion and speed of the game to “the frantic darting of the weightless bugs which run of the surface of stagnant pools” and then to “a kind of kaleidoscopic whirl like a child’s toy”. Lauded by literary critics, writers and the general reading public, Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn commands one of the highest positions in the canon of American literature. On an international level, it is “a fixture among the classics of world literature” (Kaplan 352). It “is a staple from junior high . . . to graduate school” and “is second only to Shakespeare in the frequency with which it appears in the classroom . . . ” (Carey-Webb 22). During the push for school desegregation in the 1950s, however, many parents raised serious objections to the teaching of this text. These objections centered around Twain's negative characterization of Jim and his extensive use of the term “nigger” throughout the text. Many people felt this characterization, along with the most powerful racial epithet in the English language, were insensitive to African Americn heritage and personally offensive in racially mixed classrooms.…
