Mrs. X’s weight is 165.5 lbs and her height is only 64 inches so her BMI calculates her to be overweight and almost considered Obesity (Class 1). Her waist circumference is 37 inches, which greater then average that puts her at higher risk for diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. Her blood pressure is 135/85 mmHg which is considered Prehypertension. Her blood pressure is almost borderline Stage 1 Hypertension which may be more problematic than the others. Her doctor is suggesting she makes lifestyle changes so she doesn’t increase her blood pressure.
2. Outline a plan of lifestyle modification to target her risk factors.
She should begin doing physical activities to reduce her weight. If she begins losing weight then she will also reduce her waist circumference. And physical activities will also reduce her blood pressure. She should also make healthier eating habits that will reduce blood pressure.
3. What are your expected outcomes prior to her next visit in 6 months time? (33 pts)
If she begins and continues to engage in physical activities and healthier eating habits then she should be healthier. She could possibly reduce enough weight in 6 months to lower her waist circumference below the average of 35 inches. And her blood pressure could possibly also drop enough to normal levels. Once she meets her goals, she should be feeling better and healthier.
