someone with green skin and uses a cauldron and fly’s on a broom with a big pointy hat. But a witch
during the 17th century could be anyone who was accused and had evidence of being a witch. During the
story we see a lot of human moments when a character makes it about something more than just there
self.
During the year 1692 the Salem witch trials took place in colonial Massachusetts and led to the
death of a lot of innocent people. The start of the Salem witch trials or the cause was the girls and a

This shows he’s changing because he had an affair
with her and is now calling her a child. He is changing at a fast rate throughout the play. Johns actions
towards the ends of the play really bring out his humanity when he is around the whole town in the
water yelling god is essentially not real if he’s going to let this happen, and at the end he had a choice to
confess to being a witch and signed a letter saying he was then he tore it up because he wasn’t going to
lie and wanted to be himself and show he’s a good man.
I choose to write about John Proctor because he’s the character who really stood out and I felt a
connection with. He is a good man who stands for what his beliefs are and isn’t afraid to speak out of
term. The crucible and the Salem Witch Trials really teach people about humanity and how life is never
really what it seems and can be altered at any moment. The people with power dictate how things go
