Abigail's Dying: A Short Story

At the age of 9, Abigail was left behind by her parents. They decided that they no longer wanted a daughter and dropped her off in a random abandoned house in Slaughterville, Oklahoma. As months passed by Abigail thought daily about the reason why her parents left her and if there was a possibility of them coming back, but they never did. Abigail began to grow hate towards the two people that brought her into this world.
8 years passed and Abigail lived a reckless life; she would invite people over to keep her company but they never saw the light again. She thought that if she let the people leave, they would never come back so she would hurt them the way her parents hurt her. You could say she had trust issues that messed her up as a person.
A few days passed and Abigail decided to take a walk around town in Slaughterville, Oklahoma. As she walks, she notices a missing person sheet and realizes it’s one of the many people that have stayed over with her. She starts to get flashbacks about the missing person and decides to go back home. But as she is walking home she notices a car tailing her behind and she begins to
run.
After a while of being followed, she gets home and 2 minutes later she gets loud knocks on her door. She opens the door thinking it’s her date for tonight, but it wasn’t her date, but Dan and Karen her parents. “Abigail long time no see says Karen” Abigail is still shocked about what just happened and she closes the door in her mother's face. Dan then starts to knock on the door “knock knock, Abigail Open This Door Now!” Abigail then opens the door and says “What do you want now she yells” “You haven’t bothered to check up on me since you guys left me here alone because I wasn’t stable enough to be around you guys and the newborn baby”
So much more was needed to say and Abigail did not care if she was rude or not because she felt betrayed and unloved for many years; as if she was not cared for because she had issues. Karen tried to explain their side of the story about why they decided to leave her in Slaughterville, Oklahoma rather than keeping her with them in California, but Abigail didn’t want to hear the lies that were going to come out of her mouth.
Dan insisted that Abigail let them see her home environment to see if they can make up for abandoning her so early. Yet, Abigail did not want to let them in because she had people locked up in the cellar and was sure that if her parents saw that she was not stabled they would take her to an institution for mental people. “Abigail I think we have a right to see what buries inside this house,” said Dan. “I don’t think you do” Abigail fired back. “As of what I know my parents died the day they left me here alone to fend for myself knowing I was not okay, knowing I could hurt myself if I had a bad day, which I did multiple ones” “Do you want to know the multiple times I wanted to end my life because I was alone and couldn’t control the things I did” cried Abigail.
“Abigail we just want to help you, we know we were wrong in leaving a sick little girl here alone” both Dan and Karen said.
“Just let us in we want to help you now before you hurt yourself for good or an innocent person. “What makes you think I haven’t hurt anyone yet?” she laughed hysterically. That's when Dan started looking around the house and he noticed there was something not right because of all the shoes that were placed in the corner leading to the basement.
He left his wife alone with their crazy daughter and checked out the basement and he saw the 5 pale bodies tied up in a cellar. That’s when he realized what mistake they created when they left Abigail alone for many years. “Karen we need to take her to the police she’s gone mad” “What do you mean she’s gone mad Dan?” “Dad I am not crazy I just got lonely, but they brought it upon
themselves”
