The issue of abortion is by far, one of the most controversial topics in American History and everyone seems to have an opinion on the topic. Although there are many sides to the topic, the issue has divided the majority of people to the two extreme views of the topic --Pro-choice Vs. Pro-life. We can see the main arguments of each side just by analyzing the titles given to the two sides. Those who are pro-life believe that they are in fact Pro-Life and that abortion is murder. Those who are pro-choice believe that they are Pro-choice and that outlawing abortion would take the women's freedom to make a choice about her own body. Feelings and emotions about such an issue are very powerful and it has been the case that both sides will go to extremes to defend what they believe in. Such was the case Rosalie and Hector Zevallos, owners of an abortion clinic who were kidnapped and threatened with their lives, if they would not close down their clinic. (Glover, CC, 22)…
Jonathan Glover, in his article Matters of Life and Death casts dispersions on both pro-abortion and anti-abortion debates citing them as too knee-jerk emotional reactions diminishing the inherent complexity of the other side (1. Glover, CC2006, p. 0110). Glover comprehensively addresses the key points of both sides of the abortion debate and evaluates their inherent virtues, especially for those who hold these opinions, then methodically points out its flaws. Ultimately, Glover comes to the conclusion that though a fetus is a human at the moment of conception, the right to abort lies with the mother and her own self-determination.…
Imagine a young child at the playground, slipping down a slide, swinging on the monkey bars, and laughing with glee. When a mother decides to get an abortion, that entire image goes away with a blink of an eye. What that mother might not know is her child might be the next person to cure cancer or be the greatest movie star of all time. The public is divided on this issue and they do not know if one should be pro-life or pro-choice. People that believe in pro-choice think the decision should be up to the mother. It is the mother’s body and she should have the right to decide what happens to it. However, every life matters and the child should not be in the cross fire of the mother’s decision. Abortion violates the child’s right to live and…
"An abortion is the deliberate killing of a human being. As such, it is a murder. When you kill an unborn child, you rob it of its whole future life. Therefore it is never morally permissible and it should be illegal." Critically assess that claim.…
Abortion is a heavily debated issue in our country. Many people believe it is immoral and unethical, while some see it as a necessity. Whether the fetus is one or forty-five weeks old, many still see it as murder. At what point of the term of a woman’s pregnancy, is a fetus considered a human being? This issue is still up for further debate. The debate in regards to abortion stems from whether a woman should have the right to end her pregnancy or give birth. I personally do not believe in abortion, however, I also believe it is a woman’s right to make that decision, especially in situations regarding teen pregnancy, financial hardships, rape, and incest. The following paragraphs will describe these circumstances in greater detail, supporting why I support pro choice abortion rights.…
Canada has a history with the controversial issue of abortion. The two sides to this topic have strong opinions about the right and wrong decisions when it comes to abortion. One might believe that abortion should not exist in Canadian society. These people are most likely known as pro-life; who believe abortion is equal to murder. Others believe that abortion is a good thing, and has had a strong impact on Canadian society. These people are pro-choice, they believe abortion is a way to help an individual's life for the better. The R.v. Morgentaler case was about two men, including Morgentaler who were licensed physicians, they set up a private clinic providing abortion services to women who did not have the necessary approval and they were criminally charged. The R.v. Morgentaler case made a significant impact on Canadian society; more broadly this case impacted the women of Canada by granting women greater equality rights, giving them a healthier along with a safe lifestyle, and it got rid of illegal acts made by doctors.…
“Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus” (Lowenstein). Abortion is and always has been a very controversial issue. The above definition explains why the debate of abortion is so debatable. A much asked question is whether or not the unborn child is considered human or not human. Since I am pro-life, I consider the unborn to be human, not just an embryo. I believe abortion should be illegal because it harm’s the pregnant woman’s body, it is against some religions. There are other options besides abortions available, and I believe that abortion is the murder of a human being. Abortion should be illegal to protect the unborn fetus; however, the mother’s health is also a…

Attempts to obtain an abortion are much more difficult for minors than for their adult counterparts due in part to laws and restrictions that regulate the consent and notification of a minor's parents. Thirty-four states require some form of parental involvement in a minor's decision to have an abortion. The laws are intended to foster parent-child relationships, protect the rights of parents, and deter young women from obtaining abortions or becoming pregnant in the first place, but research casts doubt on whether the laws have their intended effect, and Supreme Court rulings allow minors some privacy rights regarding obtaining an abortion.…
Ironically, 30 years ago Iran was one of America's staunchest Middle East allies, until a revolution in January 1979 toppled Iran's pro-Western monarchy and brought to power an anti-American Shiite Muslim cleric, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.…
Abortion has been a controversial issue for decades. Many people believe that it is wrong to kill an unborn baby. Those believe that the fetus is still a living person and has equal right to life. Other’s believe that a woman has the right to do what she wants with her body. Both arguments have valid points, but overall, the woman’s rights to her body certainly outweigh those of the fetus, and it has been proven preceding court cases and in amendments of the Constitution. Also, it may not be morally or religiously right, but it is defended in the Constitution.…
The controversy between pro life and pro choice has been a hot topic lately, some saying it’s murder, others saying It’s for the best. Abortion should be considered murder because “life begins at conception” (“10 Common Arguments”).Without conception none of us would be here, the reason people are able to have an opinion about abortion is obviously because they were not aborted themselves. Restricting the life and rights of an unborn child is unspeakable.…
Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. Many people believe it is immoral and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is; “The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth.” 1 These pro-life believers do not support the idea of induced abortion and believe it should be illegal. Many of these supporters do not know that if abortion were illegal they would still be performed, unfortunately by an uneducated staffs. Over 70 thousand maternal deaths occur every year because of unsafe abortions1. These women die, so the idea of supporting pro-life is contradictory, this is why the nation should be pro-choice.…
Advocates of legalized abortion downplay or deny the health risks associated with abortion. However, the research indicates that abortion isolates women and can often cause physical and psychological suffering.…
Many have pondered upon the meaning of abortion. The argumentbeing that every child born should be wanted, and others who believethat every child conceived should be born (Sass vii). This has been acontroversial topic for years. Many people want to be able to decidethe destiny of others. Everyone in the United States is covered underthe United States constitution, and under the 14th Amendment womenhave been given the choice of abortion. In 1973, Harry A. Blackmunwrote the majority opinion that it's a women's right to have anabortion. Roe v. Wade legalized abortion. Even though these peoplehave been given the right, the case is not closed. Pro-life activistscarry a strong argument, and continue to push their beliefs. Theyfeel so strongly about these beliefs that violence has broken out insome known instances. Pro-choice activists, on the other hand, alsocarry very strong points. They believe that the child inside them istheir property and it's life doesn't be until birth. In 1973, theUnited States Supreme Court decided that as long as the baby lived inthe womb, he or she would be the property of the mother. Because ofthis decision almost every third baby conceived in America is killedby abortion, over one and a half million babies a year (Willke vii). Many countries have followed our decision on the abortion issue andsome of these include Canada, England, and France. Other countriesstill believe abortion should be illegal, they include Germany,Ireland, and New Zealand. Although many believe that abortion is awomen's choice, abortion should be banned because its immoral and lifebegins at conception.Abortion is the choice of a women whether or not she want's toreceive one. Under the 14th Amendment's "personal liberty" women aregiven the right to receive an abortion. The 14th Amendment's conceptof "personal liberty" and restrictions on state action is enough toallow a women's decision whether or not to terminate her pregnancy. The right to choose to have…
