Abortion opinion paper
AbortionI am one of the 54% of Americans that does not believe in abortion, and we do not believe that it should be legal. The other 46% of Americans believe that it should be legal. Those Americans say that it’s not a "human" or "child" until it’s so many months or if it’s born. I say otherwise. In my opinion, once a woman is able to even have an abortion, the child is human so their killing innocent unborn babies. How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live? Imagine not having any say in whether or not you want to have a life. Well, babies don't have a say in the choice of living and dying. If a woman decides to abort her baby, they can't do anything about their life being taken away from them. Their whole future is demolished. I believe abortion is wrong when committing it for a selfish reason. There are many reasons why American’s believe that abortion should be allowed. Some think that if it’s a burden on the mother or too much to handle having a baby at the time, it’s okay to kill it. Being a teen mother is another big reason for the thought of abortion. Also being obese and having health complications that could cause the baby to have a disease or be medically complicated are factors in this. Some others reasons are financial problems, being single and lacking support, being homeless or no secure base, or being pregnant as a result of incest or rape. Even though there are some good reasons for abortion here, I still think there’s another way to deal with having a child. One reason why abortion is wrong is because there are many other safer solutions. In the article, Why Do More People Choose Abortion Over Adoption?, Kristi Burton Brown stated: "In the USA, there are approximately two million infertile couples waiting to adopt, many times regardless of the child’s medical problems such as Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida, HIV infection or terminally ill. Dr. Brad Imler, President of America’s Pregnancy Helpline, confirms the challenge of waiting couples by stating: Only 1% of the Helpline’s annual 40,000 clients inquires about adoption." Putting him/her up for adoption will give them a better chance at a happier life rather than abortion. The solution for a baby should not be death. If it was for a selfish solution, you're sacrificing a life many other families would love to raise as their own.Another reason why I don't support abortion is because it can harm the mother as well. You are highly risking the mother's life and affecting her. Not only does it have an effect on the USA but, it affects other countries as well like Spain. According to psychiatrist and member of the Right to Life Committee, Carmen Gómez-Lavín states that: "Sixty five percent of women who abort suffer symptoms of post-traumatic stress syndrome after undergoing the procedure." Many women are regretting that choice around the world making it a controversial issue. Abortion can also result into not being able to get pregnant in the future, many sickness' and even death. Abortion affects both victims in dangerous and physical ways.A last reason of why abortion is wrong (out of many) is that it is considered brutal murder. In 1982, Ronald Reagan stated: "Simple morality dictates that unless and until someone can prove the unborn human is not alive, we must give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it is (alive). And, thus, it should be entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." (Unknown. Abortion. 17 Oct. 2008. 6 Dec. 2012. http://www.standforlife.net). You are taking a life and killing a human being. The baby is alive and not just some 'group of cells' abortion doctors call them. You are painfully putting a child to death. It is wrong to think someone has the power to end a life so harmfully.People who are pro-choice have their reasons. They believe it’s a woman's body, her choice. She should be able to decide whether or not if she doesn’t want the fetus. I understand this but is it someone’s choice to kill a human? Once you are pregnant, there is already life. The opposing side believes that in the first few weeks of pregnancy, there is no human life which is incorrect. The baby begins life in the first week. Another reason people support abortion rights is for certain "occasions". Examples of this are rape, teen pregnancy, or a sickness the mother may have. I agree with the reasons why they’d find it alright to abort the baby in some ways. The pro-choice believe this due to the fact of not harming the baby from your sickness but another option is adoption! You’ll still be able to let the baby live. For teen pregnancies, there are some religious beliefs as to where you shouldn’t have premarital sex. If you don’t want a child, you shouldn’t have sex at a young age because it’s not always safe. Also, abortions can result into a risk of getting ill, physical damage, stopping you from having a child again or even death. Not only will the baby die, but the mother will as well. One last reason for the side that agrees with abortion is that they believe outlawing it, would be discrimination. Women with a lower income can lead them to into participating in an illegal abortion or a ‘black-market’ abortion. Getting an abortion illegally can cause much more harm to the mother and baby than giving birth. I believe that it is not worth risking the lives of you and your child for a surgery.I believe abortion is wrong when used for narcissistic reasons. There are many other things you can do to prevent abortion. There are reasons why I don't support it. You can use adoption as a solution, it can harm the mother as well, and you are a taking an innocent life. Teenagers can raise awareness and either speak or show how strongly they believe about this topic. Abortion should not be legalized.

"Why don't I just get an abortion?" Maria asked her husband. "You absolutely won't, I won't let you kill my child. We'll work this out; we'll make the payments to the hospital little by little," replied Daniel in disbelief. Maria was contemplating getting an abortion because she and Daniel had virtually no money. Daniel felt they could work through it. Abortion is the worst route to take when it comes down to a choice. Abortion is a provoked termination, or annihilation, of a pregnancy and the removal of an embryo or fetus. Not only is it a termination of an embryo but it is also harmful to the woman, one harmful aspect is that it increases the chance of breast cancer; and most of all abortion is the killing of a child, whether born or not, and therefore should be illegal.…

In Judith Thomson’s article on abortion, Judith states that she is “pro-life” when it comes to abortion. Argument like this is called “slippery slope arguments”. By this, she means that once you start to defend this topic, there is no stopping. She says that it would be arbitrary to draw the line on when a fetus becomes a human being.…

According to statistics provided by Guttmacher institute, “there were approximately 1.05 million abortions in the United States in 2012 alone” (Abortion Counters 4). To many, that might be just a number and it does not necessarily mean anything, but lets just take some time to think about how tremendously that number actually is. The image of 1.05 million lifeless, innocent premature babies is horrific, and many do not realize how sick and wrong it is. That number is more than just a statistic but it is the amount of lives that were ended way to early. As someone who stands for pro-life, aborting a baby is not something that should be an option so easily for women. Women nor anybody else should have the authority to end a child’s life prematurely.…

According to www.sdadefend.com, there are approximately 1.6 million abortions in the U.S. every year, which is about 4,383 a day and 3 per minute. That’s an abortion every 20 seconds! Abortion should not be performed unless it concerns the health of the mother that makes her unable to carry a child. There have been many arguments about whether abortion should be legal or not. In an editorial from the Washington Times, entitled “Abortion is no minor matter”, its written that the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which is pro-choice, wants to delay a 1995 law that requires parental or legal guardian consent for a minor to have an abortion, while the Americans United for Life (AUL), which is pro-life, has supported the Pregnant Women Support Act in 2006 and was an important role in the Harris v. McRae decision that occurred in 1980. There are many things that the government should acknowledge before passing laws about the legalization of abortion, such as the choice of adoption, the dangers of abortion and every human being having the right to live. Conforming to www.womenissues.about.com, life begins at conception of a baby, and abortion is no different from murder because it is taking a human life.…

Abortion is never an easy decision, in fact its one of America's most controversial issues in today's reality, but women have none the less been making that choice for thousands of years. Studies show that about 43% of American women will have one or more abortions during their lifetime, and women's centers and hospitals perform more than a million abortions on an annual basis. Women have many reasons for not wanting to be pregnant including age, marital status, economic status, and the circumstances of their pregnancy, and thus seek out an abortion. Abortion is the termination of an unborn baby’s life, while in its mother’s womb. This could be done at different times of pregnancy, from the day after conception, to the day that the baby is expected. Whether they are the same or not is argued about by opposing stances on the subject. There are two opposite stances on abortion. These stances are pro-choice and pro-life. Pro-choice supporters think of abortion as neither good or bad, but as a choice. They believe that abortion is a useful tool to make life easier for mothers who do not want their children. The choice to have an abortion is usually based on egoism, which is doing what is best for one’s self. People who are pro-choice believe that an unborn baby is not really alive at all, and…

Among American women half of pregnancies are unintended, and four in 10 of these pregnancies end in abortion. Most abortions that are performed are just out of convenience. When people hear debates about abortions they usually just ignore it, thinking that is something that they will never have to deal with. Thousands of babies are being killed on a daily basis, we need to help take action for the unborn babies who don't have a choice in what happens to them. To help stop so many babies from being aborted I think that Roe v. Wade should be limited and have penalties, so that it only protects necessary abortions that are medically necessary.…

There are hundreds of social problems in the USA today and one of the most complicated is abortion. Abortion is so complicated because it affects a woman’s body, causing it to be a very personal and emotional issue, but at the same time because it is affecting a future American citizen, it becomes a problem that America as a society has to deal with. This causes America to be split into two sides, one side claiming that it should be the woman’s choice since they think it affects the woman alone and the other side claiming that it affects society as a whole and can’t be left to the woman alone to decide. The later position would seem to be the accurate claim considering the fact that over 50 million babies have been aborted in America since…

Abortion is an on-going debate throughout the United States. Americans divide 50% as pro-choice and 44% on pro-life. (Saad, 2015) Majority of women side with pro-choice, and being a woman myself, I stand with pro-choice. I believe that it’s an individual’s right to decide what they’re doing to their bodies, and no one else should be allowed to deny them of said right. There are many different reasons as to why someone would get an abortion. Whether it be from results of rape, birth control failure, teen pregnancy, or whatever the case may be, every abortion is thought out and no option is an easy option.…
