Abortion: The Solution. The streets of Ireland are overpopulated with beggars and their children. As a result, Jonathan Swift proposed mother’s sell their children to be ate. Swift says his proposal will reduce the country’s overpopulation and keep the children from becoming a burden on their parent’s. However, Swifts proposal does not focus on ways to benefit the mother’s in these dire straits; therefore, the mother’s should choose abortion opposed to cannibalism. Abortion unlike cannibalism helps mother’s in dire straits reduce their risk of depression, minimize their financial burdens of parenthood, and allows them to actively participate in the deduction of the population. Unlike cannibalism, which increases the mother’s risk of depression, abortion reduces the risk of depression since the mother does not carry the child to full term which allows her to avoid developing a relationship with her child. Abortions are usually done during the first trimester of pregnancy. The first trimester of pregnancy is anywhere from one to three months ,which is not enough time for the mother to develop a relationship with her child since the child is not fully developed. The child is barely beginning to form body parts, does not have a heart-beat, and is not moving in his or her mother’s stomach during the first trimester. The mother will not develop a relationship with the child since she never sees an ultrasound of the child, never hears the child’s heart-beat, and never feels the child moving around in her stomach, because it is like the child never existed. On the other hand, a mother who chooses cannibalism spends a year raising the child before selling it. Swift states in his proposal that the children of beggars are the healthiest at the age of one because all they eat is breast milk the preceding months. When the mother spends a year raising the child she will develop a relationship, which increases her
