If you want to escape the crowded beaches, the intense summer heat, or the monotonous winter in big cities, and if you are fond of nature, forests, mountains, lakes, or interested in old stories and a special ecclesiastic atmosphere, then you would definitely enjoy visiting Korça and the vicinity.
Korça, a city with a favorable climate, hospitable and hard-working people, illustrious culture and traditions, and an endless array of holidays, is waiting to be explored. Do not hesitate; you will have a fabulous experience in Korça.
Korca is known as the "cradle of Albanian culture" and is the largest city in the region with the same name. Historical documents refer to the city from the early medieval period - the first half of the XVth century. The city served as a very important market. Over the centuries, the Albanian caravans began their travels here in Turkey, Greece and to Russia. In the second half of the 19th century, the city grew to be a very important center of economic, commercial and cultural. The city of Korca today remains the most important economic and cultural region. It exposes the eastern features, along with traces of French influence in its scheme of urban planning and architecture.
The first school in Albanian, initially only for boys, opened in 1887 and today it is back at the National Museum of Education. A special school for women was opened in 1891.
The city of Korca continues to highlight the historical values and its sophisticated urban take great pride in being a host city. Visitors can experience this by walking through the city's many parks, clean streets and characteristic ways of walking on cobblestone streets.

Comfortable shoes are important in this city of a hundred walks, beautiful gardens and galleries. Book your ticket for quick access to main museums. The Museum of medieval art is one of the main attractions offered by the city and is located behind the famous cathedral.
