I was not able to adapt cultural differences of the Philippines and could not complete a high school course due to an economical reason. For complement of my education, home-schooling by English tutor and self-study on the internet were helping me to supply my educational shortcomings. However, it was still not sufficient for me and my desire to learn continued to improve. In Australia, I completed Certificate I in General education for Adults and Certificate II in Digital Media Technology which were helping me to be able to adjust and…

Melbourne High School is one of Australia’s most prestigious school in countless aspects, not only for its highly reputable academic achievements but through diversity, sporting, music, participation and history. It is obvious as to why thousands of students apply to this school yearly seeking for opportunities while only a small amount gets in, and I personally believe that I would suit one of these places at Melbourne High. Academically wise, I believe that I’m a well-focused and diligent student who strives to achieve highly and make a huge effort to get all my work done on time with extraordinary quality. Last year I had sat the entrance exam for year nine but was unsuccessful to get my first preference Melbourne High School, although…
On August 28, 1963 Dr. Martin Luther King gave an unforgettable speech. This speech helped establish civil rights for people of color. The speech I am referring to is "I Have a Dream". In "I Have a Dream" by Dr. Martin luther King eloquently discusses segregation and injustices against African Americans. Kings speech uses rhetoric to captivate the audience's attention on that August day.…
Let’s be honest here now, I am enslaved in more than one way. How exactly am I enslaved? I am enslaved through stereotyping, society and through my Type A brain. As a free person in America, who has never been discriminated against to my memory in my life yet; it is hard to see how I am enslaved in my daily life. However, I have been enslaved through how society has treated women, how I have been stereotyped for being a women, and also my over organizing brain.…
I feel tired and a not like myself. I occasionally get headaches and I feel uncomfortable in my environment. I tried substituting with non-caffeinated herbal teas, but I did not like the way it tasted. I am struggling to complete my assignments and daily tasks. I had no idea how much the caffeine helped me throughout the day. These side effects were not expected. I am starting to feel like my schoolwork will suffer because I cannot complete a full assignment of reading.…
The prompt presented within the first week of the new semester was to compose an essay about myself. The first thing that came to mind was the simple fact I was going to fail. I had to ask several questions before even completely understanding the requirements. We had to evaluate who we were, why we were here, and how Mr. Henthorn could be of service to us. I worked for many days composing this essay; including many rough drafts and bad ideas. The first part of the prompt was by far the hardest, it took the most thinking. Prewriting consisted mainly of sitting around trying to figure out who I actually thought I was. I wrote about 3 rough drafts before deciding on how I was going to present myself. After finally liking one draft, I did numerous amounts of editing. The editing process was difficult for me because I did not want to mess up my very first essay and make a bad first impression. Revising the essay was much simpler with help from peers. The benefits of using a formatted writing process are ultimately what lead to my higher grade. This process helps to organize, edit, and write with ease during difficult assignments. To better organize I wrote many drafts and bulleted list of important ideas to include, which helped to be sure I included all necessary points. Editing was made easier by my peers who read over the essay and gave me feedback from different perspectives to improve the flow and structure of the essay. And lastly, the ease of writing the final draft came from this described process used. Without this…
I woke up and tidied up my room. I then got ready for the day. So I pulled out my schedule and looked at the plan for today. Wait what, it’s blank? “This can’t be right” I thought. This has never happened before. After checking that I was on the right page and asking my mom if I had anything for the day, I came to the conclusion that I actually didn’t have anything today. This left me with a lot of time to kill. Since today was Sunday, I made sure that all of my homework was done and checked my calendar one more time just to make sure I didn’t have anything.…

My full name is Imran Bin Ariffin, the third child of Ariffin Bin Noor, a doctor posting in Hospital Gua Musang and Kamariah Binti Awang, a Biology teacher at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Ismail. I have 5 siblings – three brothers and two sisters – with all of them are still studying, two in tertiary education while three others are schooling. We live in a peacefully serene village located not far from Pantai Cahaya Bulan, called Tok Dokang. About my education background, I finished my primary education at Sekolah Rendah Islam Aman (SRI Aman), a private Islamic school which integrates national curriculum and fundamental Islamic studies. Obtained 5 A’s in my Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR), I entered Maahad Muhammadi Lelaki (MML), at which I studied for only 3 months before I went to Maahad Tahfiz Sains (MTS), a boarding school in Tanah Merah. Despite the tough 4 years of interdisciplinary study – academics, Islamic subjects and memorization of the Holy Qur’an – at MTS, I managed to obtain 9 A’s in Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) along with 34 other high achievers in 2008 PMR and Mumtaz class in Sijil Menengah Ugama (SMU), 2009. The next year, I then enrolled in Sultan Ismail College (SIC), a premier school awarded Cluster School of Excellence (KSC). At SIC, I took Bahasa Arab Tinggi as an additional subject for SPM, though knowing the school do not have certified teacher to teach me the subject for I think that as a memorizer of the Holy Qur’an, it is of paramount importance for me to understand the verses and to integrate them with science. And all praise to Allah the Almighty, I managed to obtain 10 A+’s in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2010 and be among 363 other students who got A+’s for all subjects taken. This is a proof, I think, that albeit having difficulties in conforming to different cultures and education…
Hi my name is Jonathan Alexander Silva. I am 16 years of age I was born and raised in Inglewood, Ca by my parents up until the age of 14 when my dad was separated from my mom and which made me move to Torrance. I love to play soccer although I had to drop that class this year due to the fact of me having credit issues. I like the subject science learning about how things work and how the earth works also excites me. I am not going to lie I deeply dislike English, English my least favorite subject because over the course of going to school I have always struggled with it. In ten years I either see my self being a police officer or helping my brother out in his business either way I’ll be happy with I’m doing.…
