Abraham lincoln
Dear diary,

Today, s I was resting on my patio, I decided to write about out president, Abraham Lincoln. I don’t know why I decided to do this. It could be because of the fact that he has just been elected in the election of 1860 as the sixteenth president of the United States. The northerners of our country have joined the republicans. Many rumors about the upcoming war have been spreading around. Recently, I have been very busy with my work on the farm, and now finally have some free time. While reading the newspaper I see that many articles have been printed about President Lincoln’s doings as president. Apparently, Lincoln has argued that his main purpose for this upcoming war is to save the union. At the beginning of this so called war Lincoln has called for seventy five thousand soldiers because of the recent attack on Fort Sumter, to Washington DC for protection against a possible confederate attack. I expect that president Lincoln is and will do his best to protect his people and his soldiers. He has had past leadership roles and he has been a successful lawyer and former state legislator in 1858. Although Lincoln has only limited military experience, I think that he will prevail. My friends think the same. They say that president Lincoln us finally going to put an end to slavery. However much I support this idea, I can’t help thinking that this change will not come about without quite a lot of sacrifices. Some people in the town ate saying that this war will not last more than one month or less. Due to discrepancy between the people and the president, Lincoln is receiving criticism from people who disagreed with his policies. In my opinion, these people are blinded by greed. The only reason they want this war is to earn more money. Well now that I have expressed my feelings about this whole incident, I think that it is time for me to relax and just hope for the best.

1861- William Clarksburg

Abraham Lincoln’s star shined when his administration took place during the Civil War proving excellency in both politically and rhetorically. From that war the 16th president got his most famous nick name as the Great Emancipator that dwells between Americans till the present day. However, history doesn’t say quit the same about the complete representation of Abraham Lincoln’s attitude towards the war and even the issue of slavery. Such a title proposes an acceptance that the civil war was a war for abolishing slavery and freeing the slaves under the lead of a free man who is motivated by the moral code of equality between blacks and whites. The sentiment about slavery was totally different than today’s. Slaves were private property and not even considered as human beings who have lost rights as Americans. Actually, slaves were a joker in the pack to both Northerners and Southerners. Saying all this make the slavery issue seems the cover of the civil war. Therefore, the goal of this chapter’s second section is to examine whether slavery was used only as a front image to fulfil a higher aim and securing the country from the danger that disturbed it with the threat of dissolving the union.…

They help to make important political and economical decisions. If it wasn't for ppresidents, this country would not be were it is today. There have been many strong presidents, but there have also been some weak ones. There is one president however, that I think was the strongest, that is Abraham Lincoln. Using the three stories provided, The Great Imancipator by Emily Stone, Father of the Nation by Terrence D. Weston, and America's Third President by Sandra Jacobson, I will explain why I believe Abraham Lincoln was the strongest president in history.…

Theodore Roosevelt was the twenty-sixth president of the United States, and was an avid conservationist. New York City was his place of birth, and he was born on October 27, 1858 into a wealthy family. He spent most of his childhood at home, studying necessary schoolwork and observing nature and wildlife. As a child, he suffered from many illnesses, including asthma, so he stayed homeschooled until he turned eighteen. Theodore went to Harvard College for four years, traveled to Germany for more studies, and then came back to the U.S. to immediately go into politics. Teddy was elected to be in the Assembly of New York State, which he held office for three years. After his first wife passed away, Theodore left the political life, moved out west, and bought land for a cattle ranch in the badlands of the Dakota Territory. There he spent his time hunting large game and growing closer to the outdoor environment. In 1886, Teddy left the ranch and headed back to New York to go back into politics and marry a second time. He became involved in local government associations such as the police department and the civil service commission for a while. Then in 1897 he joined President McKinley's administration as assistant secretary of the Navy. While in this office he actively prepared for the Cuban War, which he saw was coming, and when it broke out in 1898, went to Cuba as lieutenant colonel of a regiment of volunteer cavalry, which was made up of the hunters and cowboys of the West that he had known before. Elected governor of the state of New York in 1898, he invested his two-year administration with the dynamic and professional characteristics which were his trademark. He would have pursued reelection of governor in 1900, since much of his work was only half done, but the Republicans not chosen him as their candidate for the second office of the United States. He held the vice-presidency for less than a year, succeeding to the presidency after the assassination of President…

Between Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson I would say that Andrew Jackson was a better president to the people. Jackson was a president that was for the people and tried to do everything he could to help them. He also wanted to give the people more power and more of a voice in Washington. One way he tried to do that was by replacing the old officeholders (most were families that had been in place for generations) with new ones. The new officeholders weren’t just your typical wealthy men, in fact, they were the complete opposite. Jackson chose people who weren’t esteemed business men but rather ordinary Americans.…

Many historians question Lincoln’s motives for entering the civil war. While Lincoln states that it was in order to preserve the union some historians believe that he was hoping to end slavery upon victory. However, it doesn’t matter what his motives were because when it comes down to it slavery was ended because of him. He issued the emancipation proclamation that abolished slavery for good. This Act illustrates his courage because he had the gall to do the moral and proper thing against all odds.…
