liberty and equality has been the same throughout his years. He has always been extremely verbal about his opinions and fought for the liberty and equality of all Americans. When he first started running for president he didn’t publically advocate his intention of abolishing slavery. He knew he couldn’t just rid of it because it was part of the Constitution, instead he wanted to contain it. Contain it in a way that would ultimately eliminate it. He knew that what some Americans were doing to the slaves was wrong. Having a lawyer background, Lincoln did what he could to read through the lines and find liberty and equality for all, and that is exactly what he did.
One of the most memorable things about Lincolns presidency is that he was responsible for freeing the slaves.
The destruction of slavery and the continuation of one nation was extremely important to Abraham Lincoln. When he learned about the possible expansion of slavery to the Midwest, Lincoln was enraged and schedule public speeches in response. It was there were he spoke about his opposition to slavery. As Lincoln is quoted saying the book, The Fiery Trial: Abraham Lincoln and American Slavery by Eric Foner, "I am naturally anti-slavery. If slavery is not wrong, nothing is wrong. I can not remember when I did not so think, and feel." Lincoln always supported liberty and equality as visible in his term as President of the United States. It was him placing so much importance on liberty and equality that lead to him passionately pursuing the destruction of slavery while trying to maintain this nation unified through The Emancipation Proclamation.
The Emancipation Proclamation and the Gettysburg Address were two crucial documents in the fight for the Countries civil liberties and civil rights. The Emancipation Proclamation is the document that stated the freedom of the slaves. In this document it states that anyone who still holds a slave will be in rebellion. It was finally giving slaves their civil rights and liberties. The Gettysburg Address was created in response to the fallen soldiers during the Civil War. lives were not in vain and civil liberties will be granted to all Americans.
President Abraham Lincoln has always been a man of liberty and equality, though it was not an easy battle for him, he always maintained his word and his beliefs and fought for what he thought was right. Lincoln was the leader of one of the most memorable fight and victory in the United States history. Though many Americans in this current day believe he made a mistake and various radical groups have formed to fight his efforts, it is strongly believed that his push for the Countries unification will overcome negativity and liberty and equality will always prevail for the United States.
