He knew the exact times he needed to be where and when. He was fortunate enough to overhear fellow actors in fords theatre talking about how the president was going to be there. This allowed him to be able to focus on the one place Lincoln would be. He had performed at Ford’s many times and knew the passageways and stairways well. He devised the perfect entrance and escape and executed it the exact way he wanted to. I do not believe a madman would be able to design such an intricate plan and execute it in such a timely manner. Because he was so zealous for the southern cause he wanted to make sure everything was planned perfectly and it did. He accomplished his goal in killing Lincoln and escaping the city however the way the assignation was received flabbergasting to…

The last Confederate forces surrendered on 26 April. Lincoln became a hate figure by many Southerners who despised his as the "Negro friend". The actor, John Wilkes Booth, 26 years old, successful and popular in Washington was so fanatical that he wanted to kidnap Lincoln. With Lincoln as his hostage, the north should be forced to cease. Because of the surrender of the South, the only revenge left for Booth was to execute the president. President Abraham Lincoln was shot on April 14, by John Wilkes Booth, a radical Southerner, and died the next day. He crept into the presidential box (the guard was in the pub next door) and shot Lincoln with a small Derringer pistol in the back of the head. I thought to myself he must have a death wish and is already becoming president. The Koreans despise the united states so much right now. I wondered what gave him that this crazy idea to fly and try to make peace with the Koreans. Then I started to remember when Eisenhower basically challenged him to come up with a different way to solve the problem.…

How troubled does someone need to be to assassinate one of the finest presidents this country has ever had? John Wilkes Booth grew up in a disorderly household. He was always hiding in the shadows of his actor family members. Anger quickly became a habit for Booth. Although John Wilkes Booth claims to have had his reasons for murdering Abraham Lincoln, this only explains, it does not excuse, the action (O’Reilly, 26). John Wilkes Booth pulled the trigger in Ford’s Theater on April 15, 1865 and assassinated the 16th president of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln. The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was unjustified because he worked to end slavery and lead our country humbly through the tremendous pressures put on him during the Civil War; however, some may believe the President was attempting to remove the Constitution…

Choosing my topic for National History Day was based on the long debated conspiracy of the reason behind the assassination of the President Lincoln. The majority of the history books written on this event condemned John Wilkes Booth as a national assassin, President killer, but rarely did they expand on why Booth pulled the trigger. I have gone in depth with my research to discover the answer and have produced a conclusion of Booth’s motives which was based on what in that era was called “the higher law”. The higher law in layman’s terms is based off moral and sometimes religious principle rather than follow the human law. It was believed that John Wilkes Booth’s motives might have been inspired by a man of the name John Brown.…

One of the greatest tragedies in our nation’s history, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, has also been one of the greatest mysteries of the past forty-seven years. There have been two deeply contested beliefs regarding how the assassination was completed. One is that this was the action of a single gunman and the other that their were two or more gunmen. Another key debate has been who was behind the assassination. This debate carries a wide spectrum of possibilities; was this done by one single demented man, a domestic organized crime ring, an opposing foreign government, or could it have even been carried out by high powered domestic politicians. The years since the assassination have seen countless investigative reporters, everyday citizens, government agencies and special commissions, and members of the scientific community study those precious moments in Dallas, Texas when our President was killed at such an early age. Yet, little has been discovered to pinpoint exactly who was responsible and how the assassination was carried out, until now.…
