Abuse In The Classroom
In the classroom a teacher spends the majority of their day with these children, they are the first to note changes in academic standing, behavior, and physical changes. Academic abuse is one that many times most parents do not even realize they do and take actions that are unnecessary to academics. Many parents want their child to do well but when a child does not do well parents blame the children for grades rather than encouraging for doing their best or asking why this grade has occurred, and parent’s response is to usually lash out. In Romeo’s article he said that “3 days after report cards abuse increases by double”; this shows just how much parents care about their children’s grades but do not handle them in proper ways. With abuse
increasing by double this is a high risk for all children. Abuse leads to brain development problems, Finkelhor states that, “trauma can set off a chain reaction of hormones and neurotransmitters impacting brain development”(Finkelhor, 66).
