Topic: Accelerating efforts to end child marriage and to achieve a safe, healthy, and financially stable future for girls.
Alarmed by the fact that one third of the world’s girls are married before the age of 18 and 1 in 9 are married before the age of 15,
Deeply disturbed by the fact that about 67 million girls all around the world had been married before the age of 18,
Aware of the fact that if the present situation continues over 142 women will be married before the age of 18 over the next decade,
Fully aware that girls living in lower income households are twice twice as more likely to marry before the age of 18, than girls in higher income families,
Keeping in mind that more than half the girls in Bangladesh, Mali, Mozambique and Niger are married before age 18, and in these countries more than 75% of the population lives of 2 dollars a day,
Keeping in mind that girls who marry before the age of 18 are more likely to suffer from domestic violence,
Noting with regret that girls younger than 15 are five times more likely to die in childbirth than women in their 20s,
Taking note that countries that have the highest rate of child marriage are concentrated in
Western and Sub­Saharan Africa, but the largest number of child brides reside in South Asia,

Having examined that girls with higher levels of education are less likely to marry as children,
Noting with approval that there are currently 16 notable organizations, such as Girls Not Brides,
CARE, and Girls UP, that strive to end child marriage in LEDC countries. 1. Encourages the creation of multiple education centers in LEDC countries where the rate of child marriage is high, such as India, and several other African nations, that will work on, a. Educating and empowering women which will give girls an opportunity to,
i.

Become financially stable,

ii.

Create a better future,

iii.

Become more knowledgeable about various STD’s and about their health

b. Creating a network that will offer girls a safe place, to
i.

Communicate with other girls that are suffering from the same issue,

ii.

And help girls assert their right to when they get married,

c. And to offer safe housing facilities for the children that suffer from sexuall abuse,
2. Further requests the creation of an organization that will work with local and international companies such as Nike, and Apple, which will focus on,
a. Creating jobs for when they complete their education,
b. And asking for donations from large corporations that want to practice Corporate
Social Responsibility, the money will be used for,
i.

Offer financial stability to the children,

ii.

And to help stop poverty by creating jobs for adults that have kids,

3. Supports the creation of hospitals in LEDC countries that focus on,
a. Attending children that are victims of domestic abuse,
b. Support program for children that have been abused sexually,
c. Providing children a safe place to stay until they recover,
d. And also provide education based on their health,
4. Proposes the creation of a mobile task force that will,
a. Work with local law enforcement to,
i.

Quickly assist children that suffer from sexuall abuse,

ii.

And to offer first aid until the child is brought into a proper medical hospital, b. And will work with the education center mentioned in clause 1, which will focus on giving the children a brighter future
5. Requests the help of doctors without borders, and various others organizations that will,
a. Help doctors in LEDC countries offer the proper care for children that suffer from child marriage
b. Offer therapy for kids that suffer from child marriage, which will focus on, helping the kids get over their situation,
c. And to assist the mobile task force mentioned clause 3,
6. Further recommends the creation of a secure hotline in LEDC countries that will offer children the ability to,
a. Call when they are being abused, and the information that is given will be transferred to,

i.

The mobile task force, to offer quick assistance to the child,

ii.

And the local authorities,

b. Call anonymously, the attendant will then offer advice for the situation,
c. And for civilians to state the location of any childrens that are suffering from domestic abuse
7. Expresses its hope that nations that legally allow child marriage to happen amend their law to state that, in order for two people to get married they should be a minimum age of
18, this will allow kids to,
a. Make their own decision to when they want to get married,
b. The ability to learn more skills, which will then in turn make the economy better, because they will have the ability to get a job,
c. And to offer the children a better life,
8. Decides to remain open minded on this matter.
