Acceptability of Green
PREFACE

Due to the dynamic changes in environment and technology the demand for the peoples who are with multi-skills is becoming important. The Facilities Management profession is a multi disciplinary profession which contains a stable job market in the Middle Eastern and European countries and is a new profession in Sri Lankan background. The utmost benefits of this profession can be seen, when it comes to operational cost saving through new concepts like environmental friendly concepts. The Facilities Manager plays a vital role in this field; the Department of Building Economics has launched The Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Facilities Management for the first time in Sri Lanka in the year of 2006 with the intention of supplying future demand of the local and global industry. As a Facilities Management trainee at different industries, within eight months, the things I witnessed, extorted & decided are explained in this report. I am very pleased to present this report, because this is a good opportunity to me, to convey what I have done during industrial training period as well as my own ideas. After reading this report the reader will certainly be convinced that the real thing that is happening in the industry is far from the theory that we learn in the university. This situation can be expressly mentioned as “the real deal”. Ahmed Y.S March 2012

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

It was a big challenge to complete my training due to many reasons, therefore I am responsible to convey my heartiest thanks to people who has guided and encouraged me to complete this report successfully, as given below. First, I would like to present my gratitude to entire Department of Building Economics team members, especially Head of the Department Mr. Indunil Senevirathna, Facilities Management Coordinator Ms. Yasangika Sandanayaka, and year coordinator Mr. Ravihansa
