The purpose of accountability is to keep the hospital/healthcare providers from breaking ethical codes, and give safety to the patient, and employees. The hospital broke two ethical codes veracity and autonomy of the patient. Bethany was never given the appropriate information for a full understanding of the surgery, therefore Bethany could not give consent to the surgery. The hospital/healthcare providers failed to tell Bethany the truth about the surgery she was undergoing, they did not tell her the aftermath that would have followed the surgery.
