The Accuplacer essay is graded based on five criteria:
Focus – the extent to which the essay stays on the main subject. Organization – the structure of the response with an ordered sequence of supporting ideas and no extraneous information. Development and Support – after the main idea is stated, the supporting ideas must be developed clearly and presented with necessary details. Sentence structure – the use of creative writing beyond basic sentences. Mechanical conventions – writing that has little or no errors with proper grammar and spelling.
Accuplacer Reading Comprehension and English Proficiency
The reading comprehension and English proficiency portion of the Accuplacer test consists of 20 questions concerning reading comprehension and 20 questions assessing sentence skills. There are two types of reading comprehension questions:
Accuplacer Reading Comprehension and English Proficiency
A short or long reading passage after which the student must answer questions about the passage related to the main idea, supporting ideas, or inferred ideas. Two sentences are presented, and then the student must assess the relationship between the two (such as whether the sentences are supportive, contradictive, or repetitive).
The Accuplacer reading comprehension and English proficiency test also consists of 20 questions assessing sentence skills. There are two types of sentence skills questions:
Sentence correction – A sentence is presented with an underlined mistake; the student must correct the mistake using the choices given. Construction shift – A sentence is presented and must be rewritten by the student according to the instructions; the new sentence retains the same meaning as the original sentence.
Sentence skills questions also test the student on logic, whether sentences are complete or fragmented, and the relationship between coordination (combining ideas of equal importance) and subordination (combining the most important information with less important details).

The rebellions which occurred during the reign of Edward VI were mainly religious and not political in origin. The political reasons for the rebellions are that there were absent landlords, mainly because they were in the council, which meant the peasants had no-one to stop them and the incompetent advisors, Peter Carew, sent down to deal with the issue. The religious reasons were that the reforms of Somerset had not gone far enough and the majority of the clergy were uneducated and the common prayer book was produced. The economic reasons for the rebellions were that illegal enclosures were being torn down by government commissions, but the peasants wanted to take matters into their own hands and the sheep tax was hitting the poor harder than it should’ve done.…
