ACDV 101 has been an extremely helpful class for me this semester. This class has given me the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience. Many of the things I’ve learned, I will be able to take with me and apply this information to all other areas during my academic career. I’m not very good at using computers. I never knew that I would have to turn in the majority of my work typed and email a lot of my work to my professors in college. It’s a lot different than high school; which I have not attended in fifteen years. At first, when I registered for my classes, after deciding to finally return to getting an education ; I wasn’t exactly thrilled when I was told I had to attend this class and that It was mandatory. I had no idea of the information I would be learning; and I had no idea how important this would be for me. This class has helped me so much with my current classes and with classes I will be attending in the future. During the course of the class, I learned how to use Web CT, I learned how to email, I learned how to retrieve information from the internet, I learned how to create a power point presentation, using Microsoft Word, and I also learned of the many resources this college has to offer. One resource in particular that has been a great help to me is the Student Success Center. When I need help, regardless of what class I need help for, especially with computers, that’s where I turn to. One very important thing that was always brought to our attention was to take the words “I can’t” out of our vocabulary. I became frustated when I didn’t understand or know how to do an assignment. My professor for ACDV 101 was a very good teacher; she never had a problem with staying after class and providing me and other students with the extra help that we needed. I am very grateful for the opportunity to have taken this orientation class. Even though it’s mandatory, I would recommend this class to any new student. In the
