Achieve Long Term Goals
Baby Steps to Achieve Long Term Goals As a sophomore at Century High School, I enrolled in a welding program at the University. before the class started I thought it was going be very easy. However, I soon realized it was not going to be easy at all. In fact, the welding program was quite hard. Nonetheless, the instructors were supportive and patient with me. Which in my opinion say a lot about the welding program in general. Through the year, the welding program became easier and more enjoyable. With the semester ending, I had to decide if I wanted to continue the welding program the following year. I made the decision to continue the welding program. Now, I am a senior, and I have attended the welding class for three years.

When I imagined going to college for the first time, I thought I would cry and be homesick. To not be homesick I told myself to be involved with the Welcome Weekend activities and it worked! My classes were intimidating on the first day, but now that we have had many classes I am comfortable. I am using my time management skills everyday because I have many meetings to attend. Overall, I am glad I choose to continue my education at UW-Platteville because it feels like home.…

During the middle of my sophomore year at Norway High School we took the quick 10 minute drive to Kingsford and toured the Dickinson Iron Intermediate School District. There was a plan set in stone for me to see the welding lab. After meeting and learning about all the different opportunities there are after attending this school, we finally got to meet with Mr. Jezylo and Mr. Paulsen. As soon as I entered the shop I instantly felt at home. The humming of the welding machines, the loud crash of metal falling to the floor after being cut, and the sparks flying as students are welding were amazing. I could've spent forever in there learning about welding and what it takes to become a welder, but sadly we had to leave and go back to our homeschool. I couldn't stop thinking about welding and how bad I wanted to learn about it. Everything we learned that day opened my mind to new experiences.…

Very informative and very insightful. His nature inspired me to evolve with my knowledge and not to stick with just one aspect of welding because there are so many different working roles in the profession. My new role is to finish my bachelors in business management from Hanibal-Legrange University. After I finish this degree I am going o attend the Hobart School for welding and achieve my CWI and CTE and be a welding educator. The first day of welding school was the scariest of first days back to school I’ve ever had. I was more nervous for the first day of welding school than my first day of school for my bachelors. What will the students be like? What will the instructor be like? Will they like me? Will they hate me? Can I put up with my fellow students? Are they going to be a bunch of ass holes? I had never been in a vocational school style learning program because I was always in college prep classes and at that time and heard of the rambunctious, flamboyancy that took place in that type of learning environment. At that time, I didn’t know I was waiting my time with college prep because welding was my true calling which I found out ten years…

I would like to be certified in the data center virtualization certification and have been reviewing videos and free labs provided by VMWare learning about their product. This is very achievable because of the free labs that are available along with the fact that I use the product on a daily basis. It is relevant to my goals because it is a product that many companies are using for their infrastructure. My plan is to be certified by the beginning of 2017. School has always been an important goal in my life. Growing up I always wanted to attend college for at least 10 years to receive a law degree. Now that I’m older I realized that law is not what I want. I am interested in a B.S. and then an M.S. in Sociology, receiving a welding certificate, plus my C.D.L. license. I plan to work hard and finish college with at least my b/s in Sociology. I am a good listener. I like to understand people’s feelings, how they come to a point in their lives; that they need someone to help them cope with their feelings. The welding certificate is a family trait; the union came knocking at my door. The certificate only takes 60 days to receive. The only thing I like about the union is the benefits. I always wanted to own an 18-wheeler. My goal is to one day have my own truck business, that makes deliveries, trash dumpsters and removals. I know that I can complete these goals in less than 10 years. The next 10 years I…
