March 10 2013 Why education is important to me Education is important to me because in order to succeed in life you need knowledge and basic life skills. It is important to me to get a college degree because I want to better my life and open more doors for myself so I will be able to get a good job. I also want to get a better education because I want to be a good example for my children. We need education because we need skills to help us succeed in life. Without basic skills of reading, writing, spelling and math we would not be able to survive well in the world. Reading is a vital skill to help us find a good job. Reading is what helps us understand instructions, street signs and also following a map. Reading, like no other medium, can transform your life in a flash, and you never know which book, at which time in your life, might be the one that rocks your world and inspires you to grow in ways you never thought possible." ( Hedges 2011). Math skills are also a important part of getting a education. Math skills is what helps us understand how to deal with money. If we did not know how to add or subtract how would we know how much to pay for something or how much money we are supposed to receive in return. Math skills help us with calculating and knowing the distance between one place or another. If I were again beginning my studies, I would follow the advice of Plato and start with mathematics. ( Galilei 2000).
Writing is another important part of getting a education. Without any writing skills how would we be able to express our selfs. Writing helps us write down facts to help us remember things. Writing also helps us give feed back on what we think about a certain subject. Writing also helps us give are opinion on different topics. In conclusion education is something everyone needs to have in this world. I am so happy that at my age I have made the decision to go back to school to better myself and my
