Achongi Adak Research Paper
“If you want something good in life, you have to work hard for it.” - Achongi Adak. Achongi Adak is a woman who strongly believes in hard work. She was born in South Sudan to parents, Agwok and Cham. She has two sisters, one older and one younger. At a very young age Achongi lost her father, Cham, to war and because of this she has become close with her two sisters. She then was wed to Lino Awow and together they had their first child in Ethiopia, her name was Ngadhi. Achongi and her family then moved to the U.S. and are currently living in Austin with five other additions to their family, Okuny, Ajulo, Oduru, Leah, and Kwowbeer. One word that could describe my mother, is caring, this can be seen through her help in a conference, her family, and her help in the church. …show more content…
The conference that was held was to promote Christianity in Sudan and to grow its followers there. My mom helped throughout the conference in many ways, firstly by helping to organize it. She then helped prepare food for the many people because there would not be somewhere they could all go to eat. Making the food was hard and long some but she says it was worth in in the end because it was something she could do to help others. She also noticed that the people were tense so she put on a play. By putting on a play she lightened their moods by making them laugh and talk to one
