Acme Fireworks Case 8
Acme Fireworks is a fireworks retailer that sells fireworks and does displays of fireworks. Two years ago the company started in the owner’s garage and has 15 employees. The owner has informed me that we have big orders to fill and promised the consumers we could deliver. The owner is needing to hire more skilled labor for the orders to be fulfilled. If the orders don’t fall through, the owner is now not only in fulfilling the orders but not being able to pay the added skilled labor if the orders don’t get done. The owner has started his company in a sole proprietorship and I am now encouraging the owner to turn his company into a partnership.

The seasonal employees would work their hours for peak periods, such as July 4th and New Year’s. “Businesses often need to hire workers on a seasonal or part-time basis. For example, some businesses may need seasonal help for sporting events, holidays, and commercial fishing or harvest seasons.” (IRS, 2017) In the company I can see seasonal employees working to sell fireworks for Acme Fireworks. The contracted employees would have to be skilled in their labor. The skill labor would come in for the firework displays. Contracted employees would be contracted for a specific peak period and for major events that happen during peak seasons. I would help the owners of Acme Fireworks contract workers as employees not as independent contractors. We would want control of how things will be done and how it will be done. We get to determine and decide how our service will be provided and …show more content…

Acme Fireworks has received offers for fireworks displays that it hopes to take up after completing an assessment of the potential for sustained contracting. The main reason is that these contracts have an implication on costs and an ability to maintain extra employees hired in the business. The obligations also pose a threat to the type of ownership that the owner has maintained over the years. The business has mainly been a sole proprietorship. However, if the business wants to expand by taking on the bigger business, it has to rethink the type of ownership to make it a better company. The aim of the paper will be to assess the law governing the contracts, analyze the conditions necessary for the contract to be legally binding, potential liabilities for the injuries during performance of contract, types of employment relationships available to the employer and the kind of ownership that should be adopted before accepting the contracts.…

This article tells about how many people in Colorado had been evacuated due to the raging wildfires that have been happening. I personally live in the Denver area and we have not had any wildfires down here. Unfortunately due to the dry weather we were not able to light any of our own fireworks for the 3rd year in a row. The fires have gotten so bad that the flames engulfed a group of firefighters trying to put out the fires and 19 of the group had lost their lives. The heavy rains that we have gotten over the past weeks have helped a lot with putting out the fires. Going back to the fireworks, we were still able to enjoy our 4th of July fireworks at the usual firework shows. We still had a very fun 4th of July without being pyros ourselves.…

Liuyang, a city in Hunan Province in China, is known as “the home of firecrackers and fireworks”. The fireworks making in Liuyang has a long history and tradition in China, and enjoys a high reputation in the domestic market. It was also the top fireworks exporter in the world, covering 60% of the global production. However, the fireworks market in China faced an intensified competition and several legal restrictions. Jerry Yu, who was running a small family-owned chain of gift stores in New York, was asked to invest in a fireworks factory. He has management experience and global insight with an MBA, but he is challenged to decide whether it is worthwhile to invest in it considering the threats it is facing and the weaknesses of the industry. As far as I am concerned, although the downward trend of fireworks consumption (see Exhibit 1) made the whole firework industry seem like a sunset industry, there are still some opportunities for investing this industry and make profit out of it.…

Fireworks are used for special events in the whole world, a lot of people have unlimited access to buy fireworks. When special events are coming up people get excited to watch fireworks exploding in the sky. Some people do not realize fireworks are dangerous in many ways. Something good I can tell about fireworks is, when I was a child I used to play with fireworks, and it was funny to watch them explode. This Christmas my brother and cousin were playing with fireworks but they had an accident with only one firework, my brother lit a firework, then my brother and cousin ran away from there but the firework flew against my cousin burned at his ear, then the same firework burned my brother in his arm.…
