Acquiring the CCNP Certification
The impact of technology in our lives has grown exponentially over recent years. The demand for better, faster, more productive software and hardware equipment has increased the need for more experienced and better qualified IT specialists. These IT professionals must possess a degree of knowledge and expertise that sets them apart from others in their field. One way industry has set the standard in recruiting such specialized individuals is certification. Becoming certified is recognized proof of professional achievement. One specific certification, that I feel to be an important step to bettering my knowledge of networking systems, is the Cisco Certified Network Professional Certification. The Cisco Certified Network Professional Certification, or CCNP, is a certification aimed at educating the recipient on the inner workings of complex networking systems, such as planning, implementing, verifying, and troubleshooting issues within both local and wide-range area networks. This certification is an extension of the CCNA, or Cisco Certified Network Associate certification, which covers the basic networking infrastructure involved in both local, and wide area networks. The CCNP is designed to signify that those who attain the certification are knowledgeable and skilled in the areas of Local Area Networking, as well as Wide Area Networking. The material covered in the learning stages of this certification will also allow you to advanced security systems, wireless networking systems, as well as voice and video solutions. Though there is a general emphasis on working with Cisco networking systems, the certification applies to almost any relatable network setup.
