The movie begins with man but the name of Jude (a reference to the title of the Beatles’ song Hey Jude) who starts to sing Girl. Suddenly the movie progresses and shows a scene where you meet, at what seems to be like a school dance, Lucy (a reference to the Beatles’ song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds) and her boyfriend Daniel and she is singing Tell me I’m the Only One. Then it transitions to Liverpool to what seems to be an underground bar, which is considered to be an allusion to the Cavern Club where the Beatles began their journey in music. Jude is seen holding his girlfriend Molly when she begins singing Let Me Go On Loving You. He then sings to her All My Loving and packs all his belongings for a trek to America to seek his long-lost father. It then cuts to Daniel leaving for boot camp and, what can be assumed for at the time, Vietnam. The truck Daniel passes a high school and the character Prudence is introduced. She then starts to sing I Want To Hold Your Hand in a low volume, looking jealously at another cheerleader who is flirting with a football player. Then she is seen at the side of the road attempting to hitchhike and in another part of America Jude is seen doing the same. Jude ends up at Princeton University and runs into a student by the name of Max (an allusion to song Maxwell’s Silver Hammer). Jude asks about his father and Max leads him to his father who is a janitor. A scene then appears where Max hits a dorm from a rooftop with a golfball and is running away but Jude saves him by letting him into a building he has access to. Max then introduces him to his friends and they smoke and drink the night away and sing With a Little Help From My Friend.
Lucy receives a letter from Daniel saying he will be able to come back for a few weeks on leave and she breaks out into song singing It Won’t Be Long. Max takes Jude to Thanksgiving at his house but then they have to pick up Max’s little sister who actually is Lucy. At the
