Action films are popular among audiences throughout the world. This genre of film is known for its energy, excitement, and acts of heroism that the audience can lose themselves in. Act of Valor (2012) focuses on the heroes, who are the center of attention in the film. Typical action films are shot in two dimensional views. This film is unique because it allowed the audience a three dimensional view of the film from a two dimensional view, unlike other action films (Hurlbut, 2012). The goal for this film is to involve the audience enough to feel like they were a part of it. The film Act of Valor changed the way audiences view action films. Act of Valor (2012) is inspired by real events and “this film is based on real acts of valor” (McCoy & Waugh, 2012). The directors Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh released the movie in February 2012. This is a story that captures the extraordinary courage of a team of United States Navy Seals. The directors take the audience through a mission assigned to a team of Navy Seals. Their mission is to save the United States from a planned act of terrorism. Through this film the audience is able to get an idea of life as a Navy Seal. The actors in the film are real Navy Seals which is important to the reality.
The editing in this film was appropriate and critical to capturing the art of the film. The film was shot was a five dimensional camera that had been released at the time the film was being made. They shot 200 hours of film and after each shoot the director would edit (Hurlbut, 2012). Editing was suitable for the film because many visual effects had to be added in due to five dimensional camera views. The movie had a good flow and each scene had a smooth transition. The sound captured in this film is highly effective. When the various weapons are being fired, you can hear them. The use of real live ammunition gives the authentic feel
