Action Observation Model To A Leadership Development Plan
The Action Observation Model can provide an enhancement to a Leadership Development Plan. Its three phases of action, observation and reflection provide a roadmap to growth and maturity as a leader and leadership development plan. Phase one, action is the beginning of growth. It is often said that experience is the best teacher. Expose to a situation provides a basis to correct future leadership issues. Phase two, observation, provides a window in to the repercussions of actions. It provides further growth in a leader, by seeing how his or her actions affect others and the organization. Finally, phase three, reflection provide a basis for maturity. By reflecting on actions and observations, a leader can develop into a better leader. Leaders

    The Trait Approach assumes that some people are natural leaders and examines motives, values, personality, and skills. The Behavior Approach branches into two sections. One method to the Behavior Approach is to look at leader behavior. What does the leader actually do? The other portion of the Behavior approach is to determine what actions are helpful and what actions are less helpful for leaders.     For our second Leadership in Action project, we decided to volunteer four hours of our time at the Allegany County Animal Shelter. For many years, the shelter served as the final destination for 85% of the animals that have entered it (1).
