Activities (or just riddles that I submitted once. )

Puzzle 1
Stephen was looking at a photo. Someone asked him, "Whose picture are you looking at?" He replied: "I don't have any brother or sister, but this man's father is my father's son." So, whose picture was Stephen looking at?
Puzzle 2
There was a robbery in which a lot of goods were stolen. The robber(s) left in a truck. It is known that : (1) Nobody else could have been involved other than A, B and C. (2) C never commits a crime without A's participation. (3) B does not know how to drive. So, is A innocent or guilty?
Puzzle 3
Suppose there is this little town with a finite numer of people: (1) No two inhabitants have exactly the same number of hairs. (2) No inhabitant has exactly 409 hairs. (3) There are more inhabitants than there are hairs on the head of any inhabitant. So, what is the largest possible number of inhabitants in that little town?
Puzzle 4
If you put a coin in an empty bottle and insert a cork into the neck of the bottle, how could you remove the coin without taking the cork out or breaking the bottle?

The Detainee

You've been sentenced to death in an obscure foreign country which has a strange law. Before the sentence is carried out, two papers -- one with "LIFE" written on it and one with "DEATH" written on it -- are folded up and placed in a hat. You are permitted to pick out one of the papers (without looking), and if you choose the one with "LIFE" written on it, you are set free. Otherwise, the death sentence is carried out. On this occasion, a mean-spirited acquaintance of yours, bent on your demise, has substituted the paper with "LIFE" written on it with another one with "DEATH" written on it. This person gleefully informs you of what he has done and that you are doomed to die. You are not permitted to speak to anyone about this misdeed, nor will you have a chance to switch the papers or the hat yourself in time. How will you avoid certain death?

There are five houses.

Now, who drinks water? Who owns the zebra?
In the interest of clarity, it must be added that each of the five houses is painted a different color, and their inhabitants are of different national extractions, own different pets, drink different beverages and smoke different brands of American cigarets [sic]. One other thing: in statement 6, right means your right.

Activity 3
Answer: After you draw one of the papers, swallow it. The jailer will be forced to check the remaining paper to determine what the one you drew said. The jailer will of course see a paper with "DEATH" written on it, assume you drew the one with "LIFE" written on it, and set you free.

Activity 1
THE EVERYDAY PUZZLE
It is not a riddle, just a question on what you will do if this happens in your everyday life.
The purpose is for the students to discuss matters in an analytical way.
Class can be divided to 3 groups, each huddled in a circle. A question is given and they are given 2 minutes to discuss things up and decide on an answer. A groupmate will be assigned to report the answer, and each group will express their ideas and explain their answers. The points will go to the group who gets the correct answer.
Activity 2
THE SYLLABIC PHOTO
It is not four pics one word. A photo represents a word or group of words and everybody must guess what the word is.
The purpose is for the students to harness their non-verbal reasoning skills.
Divide into three groups (may be the same grouping as the last activity) still huddled in a circle. Each student must have a distinct sound so the teacher will have an idea who raised their hand first. Points are given to the group who answered the photo correctly.
Activity 3
THE DETAINEE
It’s just one question for the purpose of reasoning beyond sanity. (Kidding) yep, I’m dead serious.
It can be played individually if the three groups are bothersome. Basically it is called as a collaborative learning activity, right? So you will need to have the groups whether you like it or not. Have the groups discuss for five minutes about the situation given, have somebody report the action to be done and let them speak on what they think is correct. Meanwhile, the teacher/facilitator needs to be keen in order to prevent a fistfight or arguments. Points goes to the group who can have the nearest version of the answer provided here. No one is allowed to argue about the answer provided by the paper that I will submit. Ha!
Activity 4
RIDDLE, RIDDLE, THE CAT AND THE FIDDLE
Stop being thick, these are all riddles.
These may help them detect deception. There is trickery in the riddles.
Same groups. Each group will have a distinct sound like, banana! Banana! Or, meow! Meow! These are just examples. Only one representative per group. Of course, points will go to the student who had the correct answer provided in this paper. No arguments, please. 
Activity 5
EINSTEIN’S RIDDLE
Usually done individually, but groups may bring this home. It’s a puzzle, and this is a long term game. It may take weeks to solve. This may stop them from being dense, or after solving this they may use their head more often. (haha)
Teacher must solve this also. 
